"We're doing this super difficult song live? Sure thing, I'll hit all notes and do all the melismas, maybe even slip in a whole set of extra falsettos during the bridge." - Spencer "You Couldn't Make This Shit Up" Sotelo

Seriously, from Periphery II and onward Sotelo has been my favorite vocalist. It's also really nice to get clean vocals with excellent distortion. There's been a tendency lately to make clean vocals too polished lately, especially the higher pitched ones.

Exactly. Spencer once told he hates autotune.

His throaty clean singing is disgusting. He is completely uncapable of singing in head voice or properly using his diaphragm. Sounds like he struggles to get any note out of his mouth. Not even mentioning the fact that his voice tone is like a pre-teen kid in temper tantrum. One of the shittiest singers alive in any Prog Metal band. Go watch some Russell Allen or Daniel Gildenlöw live videos, so you'll get how a singer actually uses the full capacity of his range, singing properly while sounding like an adult human being, not a whiny child.

Why are y'all so fuckin dead? Jump, mosh, scream, sing along, it's Periphery! Stop clapping and punch somebody in the face in a moshpit! Wtf dude, you nod along in the end when you should jump off the fucking speakers right in the crowd to surf it because of epicness.

They usually play Stranger Things towards the end of their set, might explain why the crowd is so tired

I feel bad for spencer. He never tries to bridge into his falsetto, he always belts. It may sound good for now, but he has no idea how much that'd actually screwing up his chords in the long run.
