Nice to see Periphery done finger style man, the way to go. You're an inspiration!
@Luministrus7 жыл бұрын
How is it "the way to go" Nolly uses a pick. If there is a proper way to play it, it's with a pick. But that doesn't matter and this whole "hurr fingerstyle is the way true bassists play" BS needs to stop.
@AgesofAges7 жыл бұрын
I know that Nolly plays with a pick and I am not claiming that there is anything inherently wrong with playing with a pick. Some of my favorite bassists play with picks. By saying finger-style is "the way to go" I am merely voicing my opinion on what my personal favorite way of playing is. But there is nothing to get concerned about here. Have a great day.

@@miisu Actually, I agree with you. My original comment was made when I first started playing bass and didn't know what I was talking about. There's no sense in being dogmatic about a certain approach to playing. Play any way you want!

This cover is a unique one. All the covers I saw on KZbin here, all of the players in these covers used pick, while you used fingers and slapped using thumb. Realised that using fingers give more attack and choke on each individual note, and by muting the string after playing the note makes each note come with a very obvious distortion crunchy sound; although picking lacks out on each note’s importance it does allow a strong forceful attack on an open low A string (Slapping the low A string gives more of the metallic crunch that came with the distortion, not that much of the actual note heard) I’m an electric guitar and classical cello player, and don’t know that much about bass (Although I’m recruiting a bass player for my band, do reply to this if interested) so please feel free to point out what I’ve said wrong. Thanks!

Dude, this cover has destroyed my brain, great! I read that you're in AGCF tuning: what adjustments have you made to your bass? What kind of strings are you using? Pedals? Thank you!
@7sloth7 жыл бұрын
Shalbeom Thank you so much! For the strings I'm using Ernie ball nickel wound 55-110 gauge. My action is set quite high to keep the low tunings sounding as tight as possible. My signal chain consists of a boss me50b multi effects pedal giving me compression, a mid range tone boost and a little drive. That runs into the darkglass B7K.

@7sloth Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. Glad you liked the cover. I’m using 45-100 string gauge. I did adjust the action on the bass to accommodate that low tuning quite a bit!

@@7sloth is indeed so inspiring cant get enough of it, keep it up !!! ..crazy how your Warwick can handle those so low tunings with strings being i guess standard ? and even so sounding so good ! , but again i feel like im trying something forbidden on a beetle while you driving a corvette haha idk i just got inspired thanks to you and got a set of GHS 50-115 strings for this, my weapon right know is a standard Musicman Sterling bass, it handles the strings really well the E string feels like almost like a B from a 5 string bass but now reading how you can do this wizardry with standard strings WOW.. again amazing playing 👏
@7sloth Жыл бұрын
@@80angelcleff I do like the clarity and punch you can get out of the lower strings on the Musicman bass guitars. Sounds cool. My Fortress bass is set up to really accommodate lower tunings well, when i first bought it, straight away it naturally was pretty solid in drop B. I didn't have to change much, just maintenance really. Thank you for your kind words. Really happy to hear that i helped with some inspiration.
@13_cmi Жыл бұрын
I use the regular slinkys with the yellow package and the low string is a little loose even in drop d. At least for me. But lighter strings than that below drop b is way too loose. My guitar is running 12-54 in drop c and it feels great so I might need something heavier on my bass to match the tunings. But god 45-100 is crazy for periphery.
@inma-34277 жыл бұрын
fantastic! I have one question . Please tell me the gauge of strings you used.
