The thing that blows my mind the most about this performance is that, at the blast beat at 0:06, if I’m not mistaken, Matt’s not just hitting straight 32nd notes on the kick drum, he’s fucking ALTERNATING hits between the snare and kick. That level of surgical precision at such a quick subdivision is truly insane.

Love that little detail. With practice, I'd say it's easier than doing 32nds on the bass drum, but it's definitely hard to get the feel of displacing the kick hits in between the snares.

@@volumeswasyes As a drummer but no means at his level. Alternating blast beats are the most common blast beats so I'm not sure why this is above and beyond for my man Evan here. Also, accenting every other hit would also arguably be easier than accenting all hits (more traditional blast beat again) due to the moeller being used. I'm sure he can do both since it's relatively short. But the staggered accenting should be easier to do.
