This 1967 color “scare” film, written and directed by Dr. David W. Parker and produced by Professional Arts, Inc. takes lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) as its subject, offering an educational overview of the psychedelic drug’s chemical composition, effects, and potential dangers in a series of interviews and dramatizations (TRT: 26:29).
Film begins as a drug deal is concluded. A young man in a tan jacket and goatee returns to an apartment, and takes a capsule, preparing for a “trip.” He looks into a mirror expectantly. His face blurs out of focus (0:07). Opening title: “LSD-25” (1:21). The chemical makeup of LSD is sketched out in title overlays while a narrator takes on the voice of acid, personified (1:28). The young man examines a rock necklace, triggering a psychedelic montage sequence of colorful images, text: “Now!” A man in thought. Abstract colors (2:10). An alternative bookstore hosts posters of James Dean, The Rolling Stones. A woman peering through a necklace, a bearded young man in a velvet hat. An elder “head.” Kaleidoscopic glasses. Buttons, brochures (2:36). Interviews with the kaleidoscope-eyed youths, other backlit individuals claiming it is easy to get acid (3:02). Youths pass adults at a bus stop. An elderly woman shakes her head disapprovingly. Other adults make statements of disgust. A woman in red rants at a beauty counter. An uninformed man (3:39). A barbershop. A typewriter, newspaper presses. Mockup headlines: “Takes LSD, Kills 20!” A paperback book carousel offers, “LSD in the Locker Room, LSD and What It Really Means” alongside Tolstoy. Interested readers (4:23). A mockup book with a skull crossfades to a silk embroidered eye on the robe of a man conducting a ritual. Narration: “These three clowns from Southern California… are planning the beginning of something they call acid city” (5:17). A mockup comic book, “LSD Comics.” Narration: “Time for the facts… high time.” (5:43). Anonymous interviews. Beakers, vials dripping liquid in slow motion (6:02). The magnified head of a pin. A 5 cent stamp. An eyedropper. A precision laboratory scale. Empty capsules, tablets (7:53). A sugar cube. A cutaway model of a human brain. Crossfade to microphotography of brain cells (8:38). Mylar distortion effects transform flowers, statues, a stop sign, a bus, flashing neon signs, urban traffic (9:28). More liquid droplets (10:53). Doctors, pharmacists shake their heads. A chemist in a laboratory (11:17). A jar of multicolored pills spills out into an outstretched hand (11:52). Chromatography. A spectrophotometer readout. POV a driver behind the wheel of an automobile. A drug raid (12:13). A home drug lab. Two shadowy figures meet at night (12:55). Interviews. Montage: Drug transactions. Foil-wrapped cubes (13:38). A couple of brightly dressed “hippie” types. Laughter turns to anguish (14:18). A hysterical man has an extremely bad trip as his peers look on, variously concerned and amused (14:52). Extreme closeup on a beating heart. A young man is brought into a doctor’s office. He struggles to refuse an injection (16:02). A man holds a bloody handkerchief to his eyes. POV inside a car on an urban strip at night. Thrown focus suggests an “acid flashback.” A motionless hand reaches through broken glass (16:38). A rotary telephone is answered by a man with a mustache, “LSD Rescue” (17:38). A man speaks to LSD Rescue (18:03). A wide-eyed young woman struggles as she is admitted to San Francisco’s McAuley Neuro-Psychiatric Institute of Saint Mary’s Hospital (18:36). She clutches a cardboard tube (19:19). A body covered in a sheet is wheeled into a morgue. An autopsy surgeon (19:49). A mellow hangout in low light. A review of previous scenes (20:47). Fingerprinting at a police station (21:40). A crashed car. The woman is flashed with a strobe light, connected to an electroencephalograph (22:12). The man in the mirror returns. Brain cells, undulating colors. End credits over “Round, Round” by Jonathan King (24:00).

A lot of people only "know" about things from the media. We are a nation of sheep! People should do their own research and think for themselves instead. The truth is out there! Faith can be a wonderful thing but doubt is the beginning of an education! Don't believe all the propaganda. Think for yourself!

an LSD travel agent, 50 doses a week 4 beer money for the weekend $100 for 50 then 10 go for $40 or $5 for 1 somewhere in the neighborhood of 250ug to 500ug usually, two hits could be 24 hour trip , what great times you can have with LSD , it was actually used in experiments to cure alcohol addiction. You cannot get drunk while tripping on acid if you ever tried. It is a very amazing chemical

I was 13 in Jr highschool in 1973 when I took my first hit of acid, I loved it, it can be difficult because some people psyche themselves out before they take it, it affects people differently, I tripped 3 or 4 times a week, purple microdot, LSD25, orange sunshine, blotter, mescaline, mushrooms, the media blows it out of proportion, I did it often during school, night time, from 1973 to 1982, it doesn't make you see hallucinations, things get vivid, you see trails from movement but it's not like it's said in the media, it's kinda hard coming down, tough falling asleep. I loved it, I'm 62 now and if I knew where to get it I'd take it again.

the stuff you took back at that time were not the same as what was around five years earlier if you took what was going around in 68 or 69 and took at least 200 mics you would definitely see a lot of hallucinations, geometric patterns and more and even audio hallucinations also, I am not saying it is bad but it may not be for some people

I learned a lot about myself with the help of LSD. I wish I could say everyone should try it once, but unfortunately LSD isn't for everyone.

They were trying to get away from the "He smoked a joint on Tuesday, and was hooked on heroin by Saturday" films. Anyone with an IQ above room temperature knew these were BS. It was an attempt (Admittedly ham fisted at times) to provide a semblance of realistic information. When the film was made in 1966/67 no one knew what it did. The panicky housewives shown repeating shock rumors were about as wrong as the people claiming it was completely harmless for anyone. It has uses, including just being fun for some people. But I've known a few that should never try it, basically too tightly wound. Loss of mental control would cause them to freakout. Even Timothy Leary admitted it wasn't for everyone.

The Great Deception of the mind is passed on in the cursed bloodline from birth Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.♻️♻️♻️ And NOW you see the aftermath of this 21st Century institution & all the CIAs "tests" they were doing on everyone (including Google/Social media ect.)

Bro, I tripped a couple months ago for the first time in 30 years. Long story short, the sumbich I was supposed to be "tripping with" left me alone out in his driveway all night because he lives with his grandparents and they thought I could be carrying covid so didn't want me in the house so I sat in my Buick Ranier looking at a picture of Satan on my phone and he kept flexing his chest and winking me. And I just kept doing this. 🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣 True story. I never tripped alone before I was always told it was taboo, but it was a good night

@@davechristian7543 From my personal perspective taking L about 50 times over a 5 yr. time period in the mid 90s this was off quite a bit because it didn’t include how to take L in a responsible manner and left out some negative and positive aspects and exaggerated or highlighted the possible with out including the actual probability . We have still a lot to learn about the mind and the 5-HT2A receptor and consciousness itself . I found that a property informed person with prior introspection and set intention in a safe environment may receive a very pleasant and psychologically beneficial experience while a person at a concert or party or unfamiliar setting may receive a less than beneficial effect. though usually pleasant or interesting and or at worse uncomfortable or unpleasant and the extreme of course causing PTSD and long term negative effects is closer to the truth in my experience. @@danwilkinson2797 I've taken it twice in my life. First time was with my best mate at home at 3 am. We wondered the empty streets and talked. It was amazing. The second time, I took it with a sort of friend, then went to a club and it was a horrible experience. I felt weird and out of place, I left after maybe 15 minutes and went home and slept. Environment, frame of mind matters for sure (and I assume the potency of the drug etc as well) While I don't think it should be illegal, I personally wouldn't take it again.

I remember taking some pills we bought from some guy off the street. I remember tripping with my buddy and his pitbull. it got really dark in his place, like negative energy, and whatever I was on was amplifying that sensation... I upped and quickly left. then I got to my girlfriend place I was staying with and as soon as I entered her room, i felt a warm and positive feeling; and her aura or her reminded me of the purple care bear from Care Bears. such an awesome feeling. then, while I was lying in bed, looking up at the popcorn ceiling, vivid lights were moving thur it, which was also pretty neat. Have a friend who was selling acid back in the 80’s who went to the court house to get a auto accident report but didn’t know she had a warrant for her arrest. Very foolishly she was carrying an entire sheet of 100 hits in her fanny pack. She was arrested over the warrant (unpaid speeding ticket). She was thankful the sheriff handcuffed her with her hands in front as she was able to quickly dig out the sheet when no one was looking and eat it, knowing they’d find it when they processed her into county jail. She ate the whole sheet! She was tripping balls for days she said. Had they found it she would just be getting out of prison.

What is crazy is they counted the weight of the paper as part of the weight of the drug. A sheet of thick paper with a low dose of LSD on it would get you more time than a stamp with a 1,000 times stronger dose on it.

LSD was legal until 1965. It needs to be legal again. I used to drive around all night with some friends, tripping and driving down lonely dirt roads out in the sticks. It was a blast. One thing documentaries like this illustrate, is that making drugs illegal makes them more dangerous to society than they might otherwise be if legally available. Black market labs make sketchy doses, people take them and end up in the hospital or dead. Dealers end up in prison. The expense to society and the damage to people's lives is far greater when drugs are outlawed.

I agree. You could order an Opium pipe from the Sears Roebuck catalog and buy Opium at any pharmacy. If that was too hard core for you there was always patent medicines. Many were laudanum, alcohol and some flavoring. The big reason given for the Harrison Act that banned all this was "someone could be hooked on opium or patent medicines and use them at home and you would have no way to tell it" My goodness, consenting adults using a substance in their own homes at a level that doesn't effect their work performance, the horror! /s The ban on opium lead to smuggling and that lead to heroin. The percentage of the country addicted has not changed over the years. Originally people could get their fix at the drug store & still earn a living. Now they buy from a dealer, spend time in jail when they get caught and have a hard time getting work when they get out. Legalize it, tax it and offer rehab for those who want it paid for by the taxes.

"LSD Rescue?" That's the first time I've ever heard that term and I was exactly this age at exactly that time. I know it happened sometimes, but I never heard of any bad effects on any of my friends, some that used it regularly. It was very popular long before it became illegal.

It was mostly fearmongering and scapegoating, blaming mentally unstable person's behavior on acid. I remember Art Linkletter blaming LSD as the reason his daughter committed suicide jumping out a sixth-floor window. It was never proven that acid was linked to her death, but it made good fodder for the media. And I never experienced any flashbacks and don't recall any friends saying they had any. Personally I never had a problem driving on acid. In my experience, there's something about driving that seems to dampen the hallucinogenic effect and actually make you more alert and focused. Of course, all that could vary with dosing. You can take anything to an extreme and have negative effects.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Its strange to see a video where LSD is supposedly the narrator. It reminds me of the time I took some blue blotter in the 1970's and played basketball in my back yard to help control the anxiety. One time when I went after the ball, somehow I knew I could hear music, so I let the hallucination come and I heard music that sounded like half electronic and half pipe organ playing something that sounded like Pali Gap by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It had an eerie powerful sound quality as if the LSD was trying to communicate to me, the clown on acid, that I had entered its domain and I was under the control of the LSD.. The sound reverberated through imaginary concert halls. I knew it was coming from my mind and didn't sound real in a way. It was almost dream-like.

man, taking acid with my pal at his house was one of the most amazing things i've done. and i mean that literally, a-mazing. we took a wonder in his back woods, the path in which was lined with glow-in-the-dark stones for safety. we had brought a flash light with us, which we called 'reality', the light was meant to break through the darkness and bring us back into a state of grounded realism. after the walk, we sat by the fireside and gazed up at the stars all night, until the sun came up. talking about our parents, our lives, the passing satellites... it was one of very few moments of true inner clairity i've ever experienced. LSD and psilocybin mushrooms (on which i felt a similar inner peace while staying at friends' place gazing at a projection mapped light on the celing) should absolutely be legalized for theraputic and even recreational purposes.

Be sure you go to the ocean, forest, or a Hendrix concert. So many stories from the 1966-69 times. Johnnie would just pull the tacks out of those rock concert posters on Haight st.
