I enjoyed seeing how people were dressed for a cruise in the late '50's. Just wish this video was longer. Hopefully, there will be more films like this one.

The video isn't longer because the ship traveled the 3,800 nautical miles from Rotterdam to Cairo, then turned back around. NO ship actually circumnavigates the globe .No ship has EVER traveled due East and arrived due West, (or the other way around), from it's port of origin. All ships reach point of destination then turn around and retrace their path of origin.

A really good film, a different time. 😢

Notice that the last path we see @5:00 shows the ship off the coast of Italy. We see NOTHING, after this 1959 cruise ship allegedly arrives at the Suez Canal near Cairo, on it's alleged "Around the World" cruise. Even NOW in 2024, there ARE NO cruise ships that actually circumnavigate the entire globe. They reach a certain point and then turn back around.

Port Said is one of those places you heard older relatives talk about with a wry smile on their face. The place where all kinds of dodgy things happened, where your great uncle bought that fake Rolex or your grandad and his buddies got drunk and... You don't hear so many tales like that now. I hope the other reel(s) of this film turn up in your acquisitions!

This was filmed when the world was a more sane place to call home.
