Perkins: Diesel Engine

hey what’s the optimal fuel temperature to have diesel at? this cat i’m working on has a fuel heater on the gear drive,the guy bypassed it thinking it would run better here in FL and it cracked the injector tips lol, cat says it will do that if the fuel is not hot enough? what’s your opinion if i remember correctly there is a “too hot” and you lose atomization... that sound right? getting old sucks 🤦‍♂️😆

As far as I'm aware the "sweet spot" for diesel fuel is around 40c. Cant say I've heard of injector tips failing because of low fuel temps. Seems a bit strange to me. In the great white north engine are running at really low temps all winter........ pretty sure the fuel is cold too.....

The English Mechanic. i was as stumped when he said they cracked from to cold of fuel but i figured its cat and they know something i didn’t 🤷‍♂️. like always thanks for the reply!! 🤙🏻
