Good point! But more than that, the campus should reflect the culture and history of Vizag and Andhra Pradesh. Not just concrete buildings. There should be a broad theme among the buildings. Together, the buildings should tell a story to the visitors and residents. We build a campus only once!!

Okay I see what you're trying to say but what's the point of erecting structures to make an educational institute just for the sake of pulling tourists? Last I checked, that are not how educational institutions have been validated. In my opinion, instead of such trivial costs government should focus on cutting edge labs and classrooms.

Architects should come up with a unique and visually stunning landmark for the new IIM campus. This landmark should be so distinct and iconic that everybody should instantly recognize it and relate it to IIMV. Here are some examples of such landmarks at different universities. Main Building of Indian Institute of Science Strata Center - a visually and functionally stunning college landmark at MIT Sunken Garden - College of William & Mary Nott Memorial Hall - Union College Grey Towers Castle - Arcadia University Bell Tower - Furman University Geisel Library at the University of California, San Diego The Red Gym- University of Wisconsin The Sharp Centre for Design at Ontario College of Art & Design University The University of Minnesota's Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum

Such a landmark need not cost crores of rupees. With a clever idea, it can be done with a few lakhs of rupees. Think about the world famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. Millions of people stand in a queue every year to take a picture in front of it. You could take the logo of IIMV ( Vdhya param daivam) and make into an iconic sign on the campus. Or the front gate of the campus with one of a kind design can be transformed into a must-see landmark. Plenty of possibilities, if there is a dream/will.

ARCOP, the architects who bagged the contract for IIMV also built IIM Kashipur and IIM Raipur campuses. Not one building is unique/distinct at IIMK or IIMR campuses. Just a bunch of buildings with simple geometrical shapes. For example, look at the front entrance of IIM Raipur-- such a dull and tasteless design. I hope they don't build another boring IIM campus at Vizag. Also, please avoid the building geometry of Europe and North America. Those places are cold-- India is a tropical, ancient, and historical country. You must consider these facts when designing buildings.

Harward Business School style classrooms are not the best for group work. Sometimes, you need round tables, where students can sit and discuss. At least some classrooms should be specifically designed with group work in mind. Moreover, most Indian students are not like the students at HBS. Indian students are not that argumentative, aggressive and articulate. They are more polite, cooperative and try to avoid taking an extreme stand. Some of them have trouble speaking English fluently ( which is perfectly alright-- English is not our first language). When designing classrooms, we should not forget the typical characteristics of students. Above all, the case study method has some serious limitations. Let us keep in mind our strengths and limitations when designing infrastructure for students.
