That after a BIG crash, everyone just thinks these are buying opportunities, esp. in the likes of NVDA. That shows you that sentiment has not shifted yet at all. People are still far too bullish.

The Saudi support for the Treasury of the USA, looks like it ended. The Petro Dollar Deal expired and Saudi Cash appears to be directed to China. The other Nations who joined the BRICS Trade Group in the last 2 years, may not be forced to buy Treasury Securities any longer. The US Dollar seems to lack real support for the Fiat Currency. The European Union looks like they are tired of supporting US LNG Providers. Their Fiat Currency seems to be an illusion as well. Maintaining the illusion of Fiat Currency, as a measure of Value appears to be exceeding it's limitations? That looks like a pretty large Red Flag?

Used to think investors lose out amid crash, meanwhile some make profits. I also thought folks went out of business during the great depression, but some went into business. Bottom line, there's always depression for some while others amass wealth gains.

Right, a lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions, no offense. I remember years back, amid covid-19 outbreak, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, thus researched for licensed advisors, and thankfully came across someone of excellence. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $350k to nearly $1m as of today.

This year could turn out worse. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of poor investing decisions that I would never have made if I hadn't been so concerned about my portfolio. I wasn't sure whether to keep investing or make mortgage payments. After selling my investments, I discovered that the house required more work than I expected. I'm not sure how long I can go on like this.

Invest in companies that provide current cash flows to diversify your portfolio. I hired a planner at the end of 2023 to enhance my portfolio, and in the last ten months, I've made profits in over fifty different marketplaces. Should 2023 teach us anything, it's that luck doesn't last forever. Even in times of abundance, we should put in more effort to prepare for the worst case scenario.

Mortgage rates are currently at an all time high since 2000(23 years) and based on statistics on inflation, we might see that number skyrocket further, a 30-year fixed rate was only 5% this time last year, so do I just keep waiting for a housing crash before buying or redirect my focus to the equity market

You should wait because it would be ashamed if you lost 100k in equity in 1.5 years which is what happened the 2008. At least minimize the loss to 10’s of thousands rather than 100’s. Meanwhile look for investments that have real products, great market strategy, great management. That would be companies that know how to control operations and create working capital so they don’t have to rely on debt to fund their operations. The 0% interest over 15 years caused all corporations to fund their operations with debt so now their interest expense has risen 4-5X in just a very short period relative to their refinancing of this debt cycles 3-5 years. Now they are paying the price for this and have to lay off people and reduce their capital spending just to balance their income statement. This is why there will be more layoffs to come, not just because of low consumer spending.

Let's be very clear about one thing. The "market" has been massively wrong on what the Fed should do with the funds rate for at least 2.5 years now. In early 2022 before the Fed even started hiking, the market was already forecasting rate cuts to happen by end of 2022. The market at the start of 2024 had 7 rate cuts for 2024. Laughable to suggest the Fed is the one that has been getting this wrong. It has proven out that they were right to start hiking in early 2022, aggressively ramp up that funds rate, and then keep it at the terminal rate until now. Also, the Fed on numerous occasions has stated that a recession will likely occur as a result of this hiking cycle. The market consensus has been no or soft landing, which is another thing they will be massively wrong on...........I've been engaged in active trading and managed to grow a nest egg of around 140k to a decent 539k....I'm especially grateful to Catherine Alderete, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

More layoffs are coming because corporations will try to balance their income statement in the face of rising interest expense from the 15 years of cheap operational financing with 0% interest rates. This means that many will be laying off just because of income statement balancing rather than just shrinking consumer spending. This is double hit that will drive unemployment beyond what is normal.

The BOJ rate is actually 0.25%, not negative. And also yen carry trade could be a huge problem, not only because of the BOJ rate hike but also because Japanese commercial banks may now raise their interest rates for carry trade loans even more even if the BOJ keeps their rate constant in the near future.

@@rockysahota1inflation is typically reported year-over-year based on whatever month they're being reported. Unless they're of course reported as monthly. And prices have NOT remained stable, they have continually gone UP. So when you hear year over year inflation is down to 3% that still means prices are 3% higher than they were last year. And remember that is the official inflation rate which is typically minus food, minus fuel minus other things that are typically a large portion of what the average consumer spends. So for the average Joe making squat money we really feel it. If you're making bank like she is you could give a goddamn about inflation

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. Inflation propagates from upstream in the supply chain all the way down to the end consumer. Once the end consumer "dies" financially, the deflation will propagate from the end consumer all the way upstream through the supply chain, forcing all participants to take a haircut and lower their earnings expectations. I don't see any way that a depression is avoidable at this point - our governments and central banks just pushed things too far, and now we're going to deal with economic and social unrest reckonings.

Well, if Nomi stated that the consumer is reducing savings and debt is at an all time high then that is massive deflationary pressure. Maybe the metric on on consumer savings and debt needs to be tempered by age group because boomers have 47 trillion saved and their “end of life” spending propensity could distort the picture. Also, I can see that many boomers seem to be dying younger like in their 60’s or before 80 like we are used to seeing from the last generation. This too could increase boomer spending.

Were all heading slowly into hyper right? So some disinflation or even deflation along the way is good because it delays the hyper inflation. Are you in a rush for that? Why rush that? Deflation keeps that going longer, and even preserves the purchasing power. Or just destroys it? Yeah, that too.

Cash is king and that is why Buffet has billions on the sidelines. With the 15 years of zero interest now gone due to the massive corporate debt over leveraging, it will take years before they can get near zero interest again. Hell they were robbing the American people through pent up inflation by taking out zero percent interest loans and doing even marginally successful business and making profits. This made weak companies rule the day especially on Wall Street and now it is unwinding where only the real profitable and well run companies will survive. The investment question is who are they? It is the companies that understand working capital accumulation and management through business management excellence while having strategic position in the marketplace for the mid term future.

I would argue that the decline of the personal savings rate from 3.8% to 3.5% IS significant. That is lower by about 8% which is not immaterial. People are out of $$$ and living hand to mouth. Living on credit card debt is a painful way to go and is unsustainable. Especially at 23% interest rates on average in the US.

First, overconsumption is a drug of even the average American so like a drug it is hard to kick hence the ceiling of spending will require more pain than people think like giving up food to keep buying non essentials. Then there is the 47 trillion that boomers have saved in cash and investments and are now spending due to end of life philosophy (e.g. spend it before you die). Maybe it is the boomers alone that can spend this economy out of the very bad decisions that the uniparty has made over the last few years. The millenials and gen z have relatively nothing.

I'm shocked you have projected NVDA19K going to $10 in the next few years! I see $5 overnight when NVDA19K Flips the Switch and NVDA19K goes live as the global currency connection! Then a steady climb to $10 within months, followed by a rise to well over $100 as adoption is accepted by all!
