NO,.. those connectors are trash,.. just bend up the pins in the OEM one until they are even,.. also the blinking light may be caused by the lock out chip, whether it has went bad or the software, like that from multi carts, are being blocked even though they have jump cards in them. You need to disconnect and bend up the fourth leg of the lockout chip so it doesn't make connection to it's source. THAT is a permanent fix for the Blink,.. but dirty cats or system components will also cause it,.. and these new chinese 72 pins are trash.

boil your connector for 15 minutes. The even heat returns much of the spring form to the steel pins so you do not even have to bend them back into factory shape after they are boiled clean. NEVER had this NOT work for a dirty connector with lines through the graphics, or a blinking red light/cartridge failure (if lockout chip is still active and properly functioning.

Replace just the 72 pin connector. You do not need to replace everything. 91% or greater rubbing alcohol will work for cleaning contacts. Also clean cartridges contacts with a qtip and rubbing alcohol. All that blowing on cartridges people did left spit residue on the cartridges and 72 pin connector. You can also clean your old 72 pin connector and it will work as well. Mine plays all the U.S. games. You still will have to move a cartridge around on like 1% of games because of manufacturing errors.

Just pulled mine out of the attic in 2021 after sitting in the attic for nearly 30 years. Red LED blinking. And, it blinks after game is taken out too. Is that what most would do and considered normal. For example, if the power button were pushed before a game was inserted then the light would be blinking telling you to put a damn game in, right? Then when you put a game in and it is blinking that is telling you to clean contacts? Tks

Could be wrong, but I believe Nintendo went with this more VHS style insert, push down to differentiate it from the Video Game crash of the 70's that Atari brought about. Dead link to the mod

This is terrible advice, you don't have to pay a dime to fix your NES. Never ever should you replace the original pin connector with a 3rd party one, especially a mod like this. Simply boil your original pin for 5 mins and then use a razor to bend the pins back up. Disable the 3193 chip on the board which removes blinking light and then it will work like a charm. 3rd party pins grip games way too tight as you can even see in this video and are made of lesser quality materials.

But because of the hinge mechanic it will fail again eventually. That is why it fails in the first place, and why my toploader never fails. The mod I show basically removes the hinge. It's a permanent fix.

@@RetroGameCouch all of my refurbished systems can play carts in both positions straight in and down. You simply adjust the front and back screws on the game tray when putting it back together, test and adjust accordingly. All of my refurbished systems have this functionality so no worries about the hinge and again costs nothing.

You have to put another game in there on top lol take the controller edge and wiggle it on the side of the game lol blow in the system lol blow the cart lol use alcohol lmao NONE OF THIS WORK!! :-( as a kid this drove me mad..especially when you get late into games like a teenage mutant ninja turtles at shredder and all of sudden the blinking starts. Made you want to burn down the house. The problem is , we needed KZbin and this stuff back in 88!!!

NO,.. those connectors are trash,.. just bend up the pins in the OEM one until they are even,.. also the blinking light may be caused by the lock out chip, whether it has went bad or the software, like that from multi carts, are being blocked even though they have jump cards in them. You need to disconnect and bend up the fourth leg of the lockout chip so it doesn't make connection to it's source. THAT is a permanent fix for the Blink,.. but dirty carts or system components will also cause it,.. and these new chinese 72 pins are trash.

... and too bad it's twice the cost before it gets here :( Sweden has the "suckiest" postalsystem

I got it from a guy in The Netherlands who bought two. I was lucky I guess.

Don't take that as criticism on your video :) I love those, it's just that here we have to pay customs on anything bought from the US for example and our dear and honored postal system charges us like 25$/20€ for the "service" of sending a letter telling us we have to pay customs before we can collect our package.
@RetroGameCouch7 жыл бұрын
+GamingDad we have that same system here. For anything over €25 you need to pay import taxes.
@PapierVersnipperaar7 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that for a Swede it's common to pay like 75-80% taxes total, is that true?
@GamingDad637 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you see it. You pay tax on work, You pay tax on everything you buy (some stuff have a lower tax), you pay tax on fuel for your car (actually, a couple of taxes). I don't know how it works in other countries, but i don't think it's that much different. We have a relatively low cost on medical care due to taxes, same with dental care. I don't mind paying these taxes so much and i don't mind paying the import tax i would have to pay if i bought the very interesting thing reviewed in this video. It's the damn EXTRA i have to pay, just to be able to pay the import tax :( the swedish postal system seems it's reasonable to charge me 25$/20€ just to send me a letter and tell me i have to pay import tax (which i have to do if the value of what i'm buying is above a certain level) before i can get my package. I mean, that's as much as the entire thing costs! Plus a rather hefty shipping fee and the total price for this would end up at about 62$/52€. 30$ for the thing ends up costing more than twice as much :(

It’s a rabbit hole. You’ll spend your time and money trying to fix this and in the end, you’re right where you started, only you have less money in your pocket and days you’ll never get back. Sell it or throw it away and move on.
