We been needing permanent paint unlock. It’s the only thing that felt awkward to me.
@MechaMan20124 күн бұрын
If it does happen, and it's a pretty big if, it's only something that's going to happen if people keep asking for it respectfully while still supporting the game in other avenues. For all we know, they may see dye usage (and lack thereof) to be working as intended as a sort of controlled, lightly used aspect as opposed to something they expect people to unlock all the colors for. Not how I would have done it, and I much rather would have done permanent pallet unlocks like Warframe, etc., but I have the feeling the devs just flatout don't agree that there is anything wrong with the current system, and they want that color system in particular to be how they generate a good chunk of revenue.

@@MechaMan2012 I think ultimate bundles, that cost x2 times as much as AAA games (at least in my region) is already enough of the support. Selling one-time paint is just milking at this point.
@MechaMan20124 күн бұрын
@@rinslittlesheepling1652 you would think, and it very well may be the case as Digital Extremes have stated in the past for their game Warframe that the Prime Bundles were indeed their bread and butter revenue. It could very much be the case here. However, it could go the other way, and the amount of players who buy just a couple dollars worth of dyes, buy time skips, a couple skins, could far outweigh the impact of the people who buy the full bundles. Yeah, they cost a lot, but if people only rarely buy them, then they aren't making THAT much money off them. That said... It definitely does feel nickel and dimey, obviously. It's not the preferable option, but, hey, here we are.

@@MechaMan2012 I agree that it's on one hand they don't see it as bad as we see it, but at least they were sincere by telling us that it's working as a good source of income to hire more devs and start pumping up more content. I'm not sure if I heard this clear, but according to the interview, once they hire more people and see if the income stability is enough to keep going with a bigger team, they'll change the paint system.

@@OrneryBiscuit High pricetags, intrusive monetization and losing 40% of their players every month sure isn't it at least. If they think raising prices is the answer, that's the deathblow and the servers will be shut in under 12 months as the projected decline in player percentages would mean that in Halloween 2025 the game would have 5 players.

I really just don't think this game needs trading. It will heavily skew how we approach things and throw a wrench in everything. They just need to smooth out the progression curve and grind, which they seem to be doing.

@sarcasm-834 күн бұрын
Then it needs earnable caliber. Anyone who is into cosmetics and buys multiple per season will be 100euros/dollars out of pocket every season or more and this game is not giving enough to be worth that in it's casual and mindless grind. (I'm 450 euros in and I've never bought anything but cosmetics and nowhere even near all. Just multiple for my favorite one and one or two to some others to mix things up. It's just that expensive.) I'd only want trading so that I could sell the meaningless dupes for a bit of caliber to try and "put money in the bank" and sometimes get a skin here and there. Right now, absolutely nothing in this game feels like you're "at least accumulating something" and putting money in the bank. You either get your 6% drop for the whole days of trying... or you don't. Repeat the next day... and nothing will ever contribute towards the kind of a goal that gets you something nice down the line for the days when you didn't get anything. That is a huge issue for me at least. Trading would give me "at least something to sell for caliber" (like in Warframe), but I agree that for those who would just buy the items they are after, it would then take away all purpose from the game... and that too says a lot about the flaws of this game, that the only thing you have as a purpose to earn is the tedious grind.

A bit rich that they say they need some sort of sustainability for having the paints be consumable, when the cosmetics that are heavily sought after by players are so expensive. Right now this game would easily cost 100 dollars/euros per season for anyone who is into grabbing cosmetics they like. Then on top of that the paints, the descendant unlocks, boosters, the time gated research speedups.... they have every single attempt for monetization in. I can't help but feel AGAIN that if things were more affordable in the cosmetics field, many more players would purchase them and more of them, not to mention many more players staying in the game. I've bought all the skins I've liked because I love cosmetics and realized I've spent 450 bucks on the game. Counted the paints I've used and it was already over 80. I haven't bought any boosters or help items... and that's right now making me think it'd be better to "cut my losses" and stop playing, because playing this in the way that I would play a game in a satisfying manner of switching things up and purchasing several cosmetics, would mean that it is simply way too expensive for what it's worth in return. Their hesitance to alleviate any of that (as well as ignoring all feedback or questions about the monetization or chances of ever being able to earn even small amounts of caliber) is just discouraging in a way that makes me convinced nothing will change in regards to the expense. I get sustainability and the need for it, but I feel like very often less would be more in that smaller prices would keep more paying customers around for longer term. I've heard several people who have spent hundreds say the same thing.. too costly for what it gives back. Yet with smaller pricetags I'd stay around and keep spending every time there are cosmetics I like.
@cainednd4 күн бұрын
Couldn't agree more. Send them your message by closing your wallet. Much of their business practice revolves around the fear of missing out. So, as a player, ask yourself this question: Do I need this cosmetic to play the game? The answer will always be No. Sure, it's a cool skin, color, whatever. But you don't NEED it to play the game. I've spent some money on the game in support of the good work that they have done and a stellar job of responding to feedback. But, I also keep in mind that I have home and work expenses to pay as well. I find that the Battle Pass is worth your money, and maybe a skin or two for a couple of Descendants you enjoy playing. But aside from that, the rest just isn't worth it at the asking price. So to sum up, yes. Less is definitely more. MICROtransactions will always win out over MACROtransactions. Charge less, and more people will purchase. Charge more, and most people will think long and hard before they make a purchase. Wouldn't hurt them either if Nexon did a regular discount on Caliber too.

It's not great, but I have a feeling that this system is one of the areas that are "non-negotiable" when it comes to MTX, especially when you consider this is a Nexon game. I think we should keep asking for improvements and for them to reconsider, by all means I don't like it either, but I get the feeling that this is going to be an aspect where they put their foot down, at least for the time being.

First off, great video as always. By all means, people should keep pointing out areas of friction and give feedback, but it's pretty clear that the devs (and publisher) view the current paint system and crafting timers as a main source of revenue to support the game. It's not how I or many others would have done it, but judging by their answers and how the rest of the game is structured, it's pretty obvious that these are the "terms" they are presenting for their free to play game. Personally...I'm actually not bothered by any of it. Paint or timers. However, we'll just have to see where this goes in the future.
@OrneryBiscuit4 күн бұрын
Thank you! I am also not bothered with it too, I understand in business perspective the need of revenue now that they are allowing single purchase for skins. Maybe soon more players come back and would generate significant revenue for the devs to be able to make paints permanently unlocked.

I support the chargeable dyes. They are very cheap. The game has to produce revenue to develop content and for the cost of the servers. Skins may produce revenue but how many times are you gonna buy a skin? Re-dying a skin can totally change the look of the character at a nominal cost. If you play the game a lot, you shouldn't complain about supporting it for a few bucks!

I don't want clans, at all. I don't want to be gatekeeped out of content because I don't participate daily in some stuff I may don't like to do, or because I don't hit certain score by using certain OP characters\builds. trading has been a thing in warframe for ages, and it hasnt ruined the grind in any way, i dont think i can agree on that point. trading is one of the BEST parts of warframe arguably. people that wish to play for free can still earn premium currency by farming for thinks to trade with other players, while paying players support the free part of the community
