@CommanderDudes Actually Walt quit/was fired over a budget dispute and Universal kept the rights, Disney got the rights to Oswald back in 2007. The Oswald Series is one of the few that I can think of where you can tell there was a change behind the scenes: the Animation on the Shorts Walt made in 1927 and 1928 is different from the shorts made after Walt left

He was originjally a bear in Disney's cartoons also. In the Alice cartoons from 1923, he was portrayed as a bear. When disney still worked on oswald, he was ALSO portrayed as a bear.

@vmpickle123 @vmpickle123 Well, Mintz claim on Oswald was that he'd picked the name out of a hat, but it was Disney and Iwerks who did all the work; and to me, they certainly had more of a claim on the character than Mintz and his hat! (Mintz probably used his money and influence to get a ruling in his favour, the courts were extremely corrupt, in the day).
