The C300 is my favorite wheelchair that I have used. I now have a Permobil F5 Corpus VS wheelchair that you can watch my review on here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2bbgYSgfZtkobs

That was one of the most thorough wheelchair reviews I have seen. I have a Permobil m300 with the swing away joystick and hand control like yours. One of the great things about Permobil is they offer a rear wheel, front wheel and center wheel drive chair; one of those should fit just about everyone's needs. I too have a chest strap and it really saves a lot of awkwardness on the bus I bounce forward on fast stops too. I use the large tear shaped laterals on my chair back. I have transfer handles mounted on the side frame where the leg supports are. They help me a lot in positioning myself. I have a quad hook type of handgrip in addition to tenodesis and use those to help pull myself back into position when I learn forward to reach things. The swing away joystick is really great! Some of the older chairs had joysticks that stuck out so far you could never get close to a table! The other great thing about Permobil is being able to choose the color of the chair shroud, It gives us a chance to express ourselves. Some chairs only come in red or blue. I chose purple because it is my favorite color. It means a lot to have that choice because when therapists originally decided everyone should be in an all black chair so people would pay attention to the person not the chair that backfired big time. There were 2 guys down the street from me and we all 3 had identical black chairs. One guy was tall with light brown curly hair, the other guy was tall with black hair, I am female. We all used the fixed route bus and it wasn't until one day I was inbound going downtown on the bus when the driver spotted the first guy sitting outside a building and began looking back and forth from him to me. It was really funny. My first power chair was an Everest and Jennings 3V. It looked like a hospital style manual chair with 20" rear wheels that used a fan belt like drive connected to the motors. It took a ton of maneuvering room to do a 360 in. It was still a dream as compared to my first chair - a 65 pound steel tank with projection handrims. I was obviously not very independant in it.

The plastic pieces and the bracket are called laterals. They are actually for the seat back. You're correct they mount to the back of the backrest along the side. They provide lateral support to your seat back cushion. You can download the Corpus seating manual in PDF from the Permobil website.

I have a C300 and think this wheelchair I had a Permobil Street for 16 years that I fondly replace as getting parts was a problem. My C300 is fully equipped with 'lift, recline, leg lift, back , lights. I added a table, and USB port. I life in new. Orleans and can go almost anywhere bus, trolley, streets, sidewalk without a problem. I highly recommend the Permobil.

I have the 300HE and it's a dog . Gets stuck on carpet grass sand any uneven surfaces. I've had the thing for 8years not because I like it because I can't afford the copay for a different one. I told them from the beginning of the ordering process I didn't want six wheels because they hang up . Worn out three sets of wheels. And the leg lift crunches my legs up and can't get out of pain when declined long legs on short chair sucks. 6'4" 3 65 lbs . I'll never get a permobile again. Pure junk in my opinion.
