I received this email from Canadian author, Margaret Blair (www.margaretbl..., and it inspired me to this music. Margaret wrote to me:
“Dear Per-Olov, I was doing my usual hour or so wandering through your music and I noticed that you explain the silences in your playing to your musically well-educated audience. I use this all the time when giving talks on my books e.g. for the end of my childhood memoir, as we are leaving, I describe the quick post-war return of Shanghai to its commercial roots and say:
“And engrossed in its own affairs, Shanghai, the love of my life, the place of my birth (pause)
turned its back. (longer pause)
On the wharf, a dead seagull, its wing lifted by fitful gusts of wind, waved goodbye.” (silence, end of talk).
Especially the last sentence, about the Seagull waving goodbye, caught my attention.
Thank you Margaret for inspiring me with your words!

Such a fantastic composition full of deep emotions, played with expression and great feel, dynamics. When music has a good theme you always hear that in the music. Among your best work Per, I listened with great joy, keep up your fantastic work and stay healthy in these difficult times, Vic.

Dear Per-Olov, I like silence whether it's explained or not. This suspended time where everyone agrees that it is essential. In literature as in music, it allows you to reflect on what has just been read or heard, it is the punctuation that allows us to understand everything. Your music excels in this , it TELLS, it tells us so many things ... until the last note. I think if one day you had the idea to give us three minutes of mostly silences and pauses, with just a few notes here and there to satisfy the brain, that would be perfect. Yes, we would like ... muted of course ... we would stay on pause until the last silence :) This music is a real gift for all musicians, it is truly a great composition. "Silence, end of talk" With Love Michel

My dearest Per, Thank you for another beautiful masterpiece. ❤️ In the beginning, I could feel the pain of leaving... of longing...the one last glance before completely turning away with such a heavy heart. The middle of your music becomes hope.. a sweet reminisce... the ending is an earnestness ... a promise of coming back... It reminds me of my hometown. It's been 8 months now that I haven't been able to visit it. Ps. continue wearing the mask Much love and hug, sam ❤️❤️❤️

(I have been playing for 30 years and when it comes to classical guitar I can't think of many who play as beautiful as you do (ok...maybe Julian Bream or John Williams). Thanks for listening. How I do it? I always try to focus on the melody itself. And I play it 99% with my right ringfinger (a). If you listen to my recording of Cavatina (Stanley Myers) you hear how I play the bass with the thumb, the chords with index and middelfingers and the melody with my ringfinger...

Hi Per-Olov! I love your compositions, like always :) I want to start composing too, but don't know where to start. Do you have any tips on composition? Thank you, and look forward to your next video!
@Per-Olovkindgren
@Per-Olovkindgren 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sahil. To compose, you will need to be able to write it down on paper. Music theory is not necessary as such but it helps a lot. Grab your guitar and ‘fool around’ a little and suddenly something that sounds good appears. WRITE IT DOWN! later, or next day, play what you wrote and try to expand it and go further... Good luck! @@Per-Olovkindgren We are well thanks. Monday's decision to allow the transition to proceed plus the initial cabinet choices have caused deep sighs of relief here. The sane adults will soon be in charge again.

@@Per-Olovkindgren Thanks for responding. I am also a musician, piano. I thought you may be interested to know that Margaret and I were childhood friends in Shanghai and interned together by the Japanese during the war. My family was in Shanghai for more than a century and I was the fifth generation there. I also wrote and published our story. Margaret is still a dear friend.
