My first patch in my new monster case. I thought I’d start with just one or two voices, but then it took on a life of its own.
Voices mostly in order of appearance:
Qu-Bit Chord is playing a slow 4 note sequence from Make Noise Rene’s Y channel (i iv VI V7). Make Noise Pressure Points & Brains are controlling the chord quality. Each note’s output goes into its own channel of Qu-Bit Tone, modulated by 4 separate LFOs, then into its own channel of Intellijel Quad VCA. The VCA channels are opened by 4 different Euclidian rhythms from Pamela’s Pro Workout, so each note of the chord fades in and out on its own. The mix of all 4 channels then goes into Mutable Instruments Beads.
Rings is playing an 11 step sequence from Rene’s X channel that gets transposed with a precision adder to the root of each step in the Y sequence. Lots of modulation is coming from øchd and RND Step.
Tides plays the same Rene Y sequence with the shift mode and level set so the root plays on one channel and the fifth on another. Each output goes into its own VCA with its own LFO, so they fade in and out independently. Then those go into Happy Nerding FX Aid Pro for some shimmer reverb.
The conga samples come from Expert Sleepers Disting EX 6 Triggers. They are triggered by different Euclidian rhythms coming from Acid Rain Constellation.
Make Noise XPO plays the Rene Y sequence, going through QPAS with lots of modulation on both. Pam strikes QPAS for the pulsing 8th notes.
My favorite voice is Mutable Instruments Plaits, which is sequenced by Stochastic Instruments SIG+. The 4 different channels of the SIG+ are tuned to the 4 different chords in the progression, then I use Noise Engineering’s Vice Virga to select which output should be sent to Plaits. This goes into Intellijel Rainmaker, with randomized filter cutoffs for a bubbling effect.
When it finally all comes together, some noise from Mutable Instruments Kinks goes through Make Noise MMG for a trash-can-like snare, then Intellijel Sea Legs.
The whole mix goes through Endorphines Ghost for some reverb and occasional rolling off of the top end. The volume of each voice is controlled by a channel on Malekko Voltage Block, which stores different mix scenes. A new scene is selected every time through the chord progression. The CV for each channel goes through a different channel on Mutable Instruments Stages as a slew limiter, so the voices fade in and out when the scene changes.
