Over the moon because I made only one mistake with "would rather+past simple". That was nice to learn some perplexing grammar. Greetings from Ukraine. I'm also a French learner, and I want to tell you that "perplexing" is actually a French word. Really useful to learn a closely related language. 😁

„ arrives“ / has arrived. I am a little in doubt. Arriving is a process. The train is rolling into the station. You will have to wait until it stops, either to greet s.o. stepping out or to get in. The train must come to a full stop. So I would not use the present tense. Is that definitely wrong ?

There’s no incorrect answer cuz some teachers claim that even « If I was you » is grammatically correct Thanks for the video ❤
@躺平吧-e9tКүн бұрын
Sorry for entering your comment without being invited. "I" can never be "you". This is obviously a hypothetical scenario, and is therefore subjunctive mood. That said, "If I was you" is an incorrect use of subjunctive mood.
@faisy100Күн бұрын
You are wrong , yes in speaking you can say as you like ..chal jata hy ...but when you are writing you cant mistake ..whether you like it or not the correct sense is " if i were you " . Check it with chat Gpt rather than people around you .
@lorenzograssi3637Күн бұрын
It's not, but even native speakers make that mistake so it doesn't sound "foreign." If your goal is to speak good English, don't say it. If your goal is to speak like the average native speaker, then ya it's fine
@躺平吧-e9tКүн бұрын
an excellent grammar lesson. Many teachers on KZbin say that "whom" is an obsolete pronoun. Except for the set phrase "To whom it may concern", no one is using it in daily conversation, not even in written work. I might be an odd one out as I use "whom" whenever an object pronoun is called for. Wes, would you use "who" in place of "whom" as most people do?

I am a 77 year old native speaker and scientific writer who finds the use of the singular “they” very confusing because if it is singular, it should use the singular verb form, e.g. they is, they was, or they wants, which sounds very silly. I can’t get past they are is really plural.

'She said that she had visited the museum yesterday' - is not correct. To be correct it should be : ' She said that she had visited the museum THE DAY BEFORE/THE PREVIOUS DAY' . If it's 'yesterday' for both the speaker and for the listeners, the correct answer is' She said that she VISITED the museum yesterday'
