This video is suitable for students aged 14+ who are studying Classical Civilisation and Ancient History at GCSE and A level. It is one of a series of 4 videos considering the relationship between the worlds of ancient Greece and Persia by focusing in on a specific object and contextualising that object within its broader ancient world context.
In this video, Dr Jamie Fraser (curator of the British Museum exhibition Luxury and Power: Persia to Greece), discusses how the Nereid Monument combines Persian and ancient Greek iconography to express power and status.
