@@whitewater9963 nah we are Persian and most of us consider ourselves Persians. Our language is also close to middle Persian but most of us just speak standard Persian nowadays. Many Sassanid Persian elites also moved into mazandaran after the fall of the empire.
@whitewater99637 күн бұрын
@@persianguy1524 I know many may consider themselves Persian but it doesnt change the fact that they as well as Gilanis are a separate, but related, Iranic peoples from Persians. They are Caspian Iranian peoples ans their language is a Northwestern Iranic language while Persian is a Southwestern Iranic language. Even the grammar is different from Persian. Their culture, music, and dance is different as well. In fact much of their culture, namely music, and genes is actually influenced from the Caucus which is not even Iranian. This is due to geographical proximity. But regardless of that, their Iranian identity is a seperate one from Persians, much like Kurds and Baluchis. This is why in the past they didnt identify as Persians and saw them as different.

Always lovely to see a distant Parsi brother in the comments. The northern Iranian provinces such as Gilan and Mazandaran are rich with culture and even have their own dialect of Farsi. In Gilan they speak both Gilaki and Farsi almost interchangeably. I implore you to do some more research on your Parsi/Persian roots and how they've influenced so many cultures and regions like India.

@whitewater99638 ай бұрын
@@kkiooskk You are wrong and you are ignorant. Stop trying to push your ignorance as fact when you have no idea what you are talking about. Iran is a country made up of many different ethnicities. Iranian/Iranic is a large ethnic group. Not all of Iran is comprised of Iranic peoples! There are Turkic peoples, Arabic peoples, Armenians, Assyrians, etc. who live in Iran - these are not Iranic peoples. Persians are an ethnic group themselves making ho nearly 60% of the population of Iran. They are a subgroup of Iranic peoples belonging to the Southwestern branch of the Iranic language family. In other words, Persians are an Iranic peoples! Mazandaranis are also another Iranic peoples, along with Gilanis, Kurds, Baluchis, etc. Moreover not all Iranic peoples live in Iran. Afghanis are an Iranic peoples because they speak Pashto which is a Northwestern Iranic language like Kurdish and Mazandarani. Tajiks are also Iranic peoples but they speak a Persian language variety. Persians are most likely the largest Iranic group, but not all of Iran are Persian. Mazandaranis speak Northwestern Iranic language and are much closer to Kurds who also speak NW Iranic than to Persians who soeak SW Iranic. Both Mazandaranis and Kurds descend from Medians, not Persians. Thus not anyone who is native to the country of Iran are Persian. Iranian Turks, Arabs, Armenians, Assyrians are not even Iranic let alone Persian. And Kurds, Gilanis, Baluchis, and Mazandaranis are not Persian. No one cares of your ignorance, so educate yourself before opening your mouth. Kurds are not Persian, Mazandaranis are not Persian,
