why don't you use after_create method in user just created? and you don't have to rewrite method in divise gem

I don’t follow the reasoning behind the data model you chose. A preference table with user foreign key? IMO this is the most valuable part of the whole exercise, not e.g. the nuts and bolts of configuring devise.
