Jerky as they sounded, they were right. Kumi should've lived her life HER way instead of caring about what her bitchy friends or her passive aggressive father thought. She got so lost in other people's standards that she never knew how good she had it...or her own potential :/

To be fair: She's a minor in high school. In Japan. With zero autonomy. How "good" really IS it to come home to parents that expect a 5.0 GPA out of you, never compliment you, and are liable to berate you for not being perfect if you do anything else other than things that direct you towards that goal that was set for you? So all that, compared to what? Being homeless/a street urchin? If I had to guess i'd say Kumi was probably BRED for book-smarts from a very young age. And with a father like that, there's no WAY they'd let her get away with living the way she wants to, unless that want aligns with her parents'. I'd wager that the only way to be able to "live your own life" in that scenario is to run away from home. But what's a book-smarts geek teenager realistically gonna do on the streets, y'know? Besides starve and/or get assaulted. Of course I get the angle they were trying to go for with this scenario, that it's about the value of not running away from one's problems. But I feel like the specific situation they chose to convey that value may've been a little bit misunderstood/over-simplified. It's pretty easy for the Persona Gang to come up on her and be all like "you're just a brat whose running away from your problems" when they're all far-more developed as characters than she is. Easy for them to say, when they have ghost-summoning powers and literal weapons they can use to beat the crap out of anyone who disagrees with them lol

Persona 4 team: *Usually kind, but fight when needed, Letting people accept theirself* Persona 5 team: *Face the shadow versions of people to make them admit their sins* Persona 1 team: Well, the way Ayase acts explains their way of handling this pretty well. By the way, from what i can tell BuffMaister is quite overleveled for this fight, No matter when he fought it. Hypnos at their strongest is level 48, and has 1440 hp.

Honestly, the most unrealistic thing about this dialogue exchange is that Kumi would just up and change her mind about everything just like that just because the P1 cast beat her persona, meanwhile they're over there berating her for running from her problems. But eh, shonen anime, whatcha gonna do *shrug*

Why would this cause people to hate P1? Their right Kumi is causing damage and possibly being complict with the end of the world so that she can run from her problems. She is symapthetic but also selfish in her actions

people dont hate P1 they just don't really care about it because old game and old game mechanics lol and even among fans of old persona it gets overshadowed by P2 duology a lot because of how banger the story of those two games are

​@@zaqareemalcolm I like this game, but going from P3 to P1, I thought I'd like it better to have control over everyone's Personas. I don't. It's too time-consuming, there is far, far too much to remember and plan in equipping my party.
