I think the game is made that way because of all the alternate costumes and hairstyles. The characters will phase through their outfits because if not the programmers would have to code each dance like, 100 times

Junpei is my fave dancer in P3D His dance is normal, like what people would dance to or can dance to, according to my scarce knowledge of dancing

What he does is actually incredibly technical. A lot of the P3 cast are really good dancers, but Junpei is one of the best ones even among them. You'd need a ton of dance training to even _try_ and imitate what he's doing here, even if he makes it look easy.
