I missed one Formidable Shadow that appears in the higher floors, so I'll show it early in the next video. It's weak to Fire, Distress, and Confusion.

0:28 as for Akihiko here, I think there was not much to talk about him here in differences regarding the original, other than losing rakunda and sukunda, leaving tarunda as the only debuff skill he has. He's still a balanced character that actually doesn't have more physical skill variety than the electricity skills he has (unlike P4's Kanji, P5's Ryuji, and even Akihiko himself in some of the spin-offs lol). In the original he only had Sonic Punch as the sole physical skill he learned, eventually just replacing it with Fist Master, a (now non-present in this remake) skill that doubles damage by fighting with fists (aka, Akihiko's sole weapon). Now in this remake he also learns Gigantic Fist and *God's Hand* to increase his physical output a bit. Still, his damage output may not be much at first, but once you get some special items for each of the party members, you'll see that Akihiko will become into a very strong character. 3:18 alternatively, you can debuff their evasion and increase their hit, if only to make sure you can hit them easily. 6:28 maybe in the original it did give a resist element skill, but here it clearly says it just reduces damage, without removing the weakness. 15:30 yeah, they're mostly more useful if there's an enemy that's really hard to kill (like it having a ton of defense or HP) but they're also weak to either light or dark. That said, it's good that now you can hit the enemies that are weak to light or dark with normal damage but more reliable skills (Kou and Ei) instead of having to use only insta-kill attacks to hit their weakness. 19:24 regular SMT moment. 24:36 it's a bit of a shame that I didn't end up these skills a lot more than I should've. It doesn't help that the game (or rather, any Persona game I think) doesn't tell you if the enemies are either weak or invulnerable against certain ailments, unlike with the normal damage elements, so you have to search and learn by yourself if they're weak to any ailment. They can be very deadly and useful if they're used correctly (Confusion and freeze are great ones) but you need to learn when they have to be used. 27:37 that's Junpei for ya. 28:45 cool Junpei dialogue. 35:05 yeah, he's an all-arounder specialist. Still an useful party member. 35:40 I think I either was careful enough, or lucky enough to not end up stumbling into the enemies with reinforcements a lot in this game, since if I did remember the number of times I fought reinforcements, I'm pretty I could count them all in just one hand. I think they were more common in P5, mainly if you fumbled the palace infiltrations enough times. 38:21 jerk move. 55:05 these enemies in particular end up being much more easy to deal with, thanks to the normal light skill attacks. Because in the og versions there were only the insta-kill ones, these enemies were much more threatening and annoying to deal with, especially with them also using insta-kills and coming in groups (sometimes being four of them at the same time), but here in this remake now you can reliably hit their weakness, even if they end actually eating a bit of the MC's SP. 1:06:48 - 1:07:33 funny that if you end up viewing this convo without Akihiko, then Junpei was the one to notice the communications begin to break, but thanks to being well, Junpei, he ends up being a bit ignored and the team doesn't end up acknowledging the limits of Mitsuru's communication skills.

2:29 I once saw a pair play this game (Pixel Partners. They’re neat). Since they went in blind, they didn’t know Akihiko would join a few days _after_ this part opened up, and they ran the entirety of Arqa, meaning they missed his unique summoning (5:07). Side-note; I like to imagine Akihiko constantly taking off his gloves to use his Evoker, only to hastily put them back on for the AoA.

With the Major Arcana system of this remake I always start exploring fresh, to fill up my options before I hit current stuff. Of course, I don't play on Merciless and have to manage my resources quite so hard, but still...

I haven’t been keeping up with this playthrough (sorry) but as for my own experience with P3R, I think this is where combat peaked for me. No theurgies to spam, tough enemies to defeat, very limited resources to my name, but finally a full party to use with no tutorials holding me back Although like 2 seconds in I got SP recovery items from the breakable objects in Tartarus and I put a plan into motion to start farming after I finished all the bosses. That flipped my resource management on its head pretty good.
