I've asked this question a few times before but altus changed this scene just for that?? hell in the older p3 games that was not really a good idea to hug her because she may not have needed that she just may have only wanted someone to listen to her.

In the original, yeah, after she almost gets mugged and you save her going in for a hug reverses the confidant. It Reloaded they changed the scene so that a misogynistic comment reverses it instead.
