The stakes and the price for failure was simply much higher. In 4 and 5, even if they had lost in the end, while the world would be much worse off, atleast there would still be a world there afterwards. If SEES loses against Nyx, its over. period. And they couldn't even put Nyx down like usual. Makoto had to pull a literal miracle out of his ass just to *stop* her from killing everyone.
