God I gotta hand it to Atlus for improving Akechi so much in Royal. I always liked him but I knew he wasn’t the deepest character and he felt kinda underwhelming compared to Adachi from p4 (I know they are different characters but they share a lot of similarities especially them being the “culprit”). But man his confidant and his 3rd awakening just improve him as a character so much more. It’s so ironic that he was dealt such a bad hand in life but would fight for that reality over one where he gets everything he wants. You gotta respect the hell out of him for that.

Seeing how the maruki ending really is, akechi got nothing. Because they are not really the same person. In all technical aspects they are. But in human onces they aren't. They are the ideal version of the subject wants them to be. Like Ann's friend being the ace. Harus father complying to everything haru does (and succeed because maruki) Akechi being just a face. And the worst of all the whole team being forced in to associate with mc. And stopping all their dreams or aspersions while having zero connections to this guy. Who they don't really know anymore.

I feel like the pro-Maruki ending needed a final fight with Akechi. Even if the MC chose to support Maruki and the other phantom thieves went along with his decision, no way Akechi wouldn't have tried alone.

that would fit perfectly in 1/9, where if you accept marukis deal on the spot, akechi would actually say something and fight you, but if you deny marukis deal, you fight kasumi and cendrillon, and when your party members arrive you have to fight them too

@@goodyute2178 spoilers@#$!. . . . . . . . . . . Akechi and joker is linked. Because akechi is also a false reality. And this version of akechi, only joker knows. Meaning the reference for making akechi is joker himself. So when he complies akechi becomes powerless. Also their might still be a real akechi somewhere. As their is a discrepancy as to why clone akechi is still Their. The people who died disappeared when being regocnized as dead by the source. Makotos father and futaba's mother for example. But akechi is a exception to that. So that means there is still people that see akechi as Alive somehow. And not by the masses, but someone relevant to akechi himself.

This Akechi is basically Maruki actualizing Joker's memory of him and desire to have him back, thus I don't think he will be able to fight back against Joker.

@@mhtechvn ​ I won’t pretend to fully understand the extent to which each cognitive version of the otherwise dead individuals (Wakaba, Okumura, Akechi etc.) are tied to those who wish they were still alive, but it seemed to me (with Akechi at least) that despite existing because of the desperate desire of another that they do so, they have their own free will and retain the ideals that those who wish they still lived *believed* they held. Joker’s understanding of Akechi led to his cognitive version being deeply averse to the idea of ‘being controlled’ again at any point in his life, leading to his desire to end Maruki’s false reality. Whether Joker had personally agreed to maintain Maruki’s reality or not, it appears to me that Akechi would have opposed the decision, as the core personality traits of the cognitive individuals to not appear to alter at all after their creation, even according to the desires of those whom they were created from.

He's literally choosing to give up his happiness and losing a person he deeply cared about, enough to wish back to life, and has only just figured this out because both of them kept him in the dark (both as a way to protect him, just in different directions basically) I'm pretty sure he was just angry at the both of them and flung it at Maruki due to that.

To be fair, Maruki doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. That's the real Akechi, and Maruki doesn't bring the real person back. After all, there is no Wakaba Isshiki or Kunzikau Okumura for him to revive. Their very souls were obliterated. And yet, Akechi has Loki. Not only that, but he also has Robin Hood and the capacity to create a new Persona from their union. What's clearly happened is the same thing that happened to Morgana. Joker brought him back with the power he temporarily gained through Satanael. Of course, Akechi doesn't know about Joker's godly powers, so he comes to the same conclusion as Maruki.

This scene absolutely solidified Akechi as my favorite character. Knowing full well that he was dead in the actual reality, Akechi would still rather be dead than be stuck under someone's control. He doesn't care if he dies. He doesn't want this reality to continue any longer.

Akechi became one of favorite characters and is always in my party. Even in Sae’s palace. I also want to believe he’s alive somehow. But it always bothers me when Morgana says “the Akechi in the real world is..” and it has his happy smile character frame. Seems rather misleading despite what he is saying.

No matter which video I watched, everyone never chose "But then, you'll..." and "Don't oversimplify this." when speaking alone with Akechi. I wonder why. I can't play the game since I don't have the console yet, so I'm always curious what Akechi will say if player choose those dialogue options. I know it won't have any impact to the ending unless choosing to accept Maruki's offer, I'm just curious.

@@someoneman2043 I looked into it a little more, and apparently you just have to think about keeping your promise after shidos palace, when akechi dies. If you dont choose the "I'll keep my promise" thought bubble, you dont get this scene, you just get a one on one with maruki and protag

@@Christian_Crab Can confirm this. I chose the option to forget about that promise and Akechi didn't show up. It was just Joker and Maruki in this scene. Akechi still joins you for the final battle, but stays with Loki as his Persona. No new awakening happens.

Ironically the “bad” ending is the happiest one all the characters get what they wanted and they will continue to be happy for the rest of their life,however the true ending is objectively more fitting to the story and it’s very bitter sweet where all characters get separated and are heading towards an unknown future,even akechi’s fate is very ambiguous at this point and even if he survived his ending is far from a happy one.

@@dazzi_yt During rank 7/rank 8 there are dialogue checks, if you miss both of them he won't appear during the calling card.("You are my rival" and "I accept" I believe, you can miss one check) If those have been met, after securing Shido's route, you have to keep Akechi's promise. If you keep his promise, he will appear during the calling card cutscene.
