Yesyes, remember that scene when Akechi came to our cafe in the third Semester and he stroke a deal with Joker to partner up in order to find out what is happening and why dead people suddenly got resurrected. And we can tell that Akechi's tone and attitude has changed very much, it isn't him being all fake anymore. And then when we go to meet Sumi because she spotted a palace, Akechi's tone changed again and it was his fake politeness act. We even see his portrait change back into the deceitful "happy" Akechi, which is I think a really cool detail. I remember the immediate weird whiplash I felt during that. (Also sorry if I didn't explain that too well)

I've seen a lot of comments stating that Akechi doesn't give a shit about Sumi, but I think it should be left up to interpretation. (We all played Royal so no need to spoiler warn also DO NOT assume I ship Akechi and Sumi that's weird we all know that Joker is his true bae) In the part where we fight corrupted Cendrillon, Akechi voluntarily removes himself from the fight. Considering how much Akechi likes fighting that's a bold move on his part. Maybe it was for Joker's sake, but there are factors that may indeed point to Akechi caring about her. The biggest example I can give for that is some of their first interactions with the rest of the Phantom Thieves. The group is extremely hostile and wary of him, except for Joker and Sumi even after knowing context. Then there's the animated cutscene after the Adam Kadamon fight in which he stops her from running to her death. If it was any of the others, I don't think he would've been the one to interject (maybe it was just to give him animated screentime who knows lol). I also have the belief that Akechi can find sympathy for Sumi since she was being puppeteered by a greater force, something that he can relate to. My last reason is that despite seeing his true nature (which we all adore), it doesn't visibly phase her. It's a little weird since Haru scares Sumi, yet she dismisses Crow's sadistic shit and I find that hilarious. I see Akechi and Sumi's standing to be kind of working scenario where Sumi is the new employee and seasoned Akechi was asked by his boss to show her the basics and monitor her. Most of her commentary probably does annoy him to be fair, but out of the group besides Joker I think she annoys him the least (Also Sumi has the most emotional reaction to Akechi disappearing after reality gets restored just saying). This is super long and I'm done now lol

Like I said in the video, it wasn't just that one time. I've encountered full party dodge many times but didn't get a navigation line. But in that story fight, he will *always* have that navi line. Similarly... I get no navi line when he himself dodges, and he dodges a lot. But in a story fight, his own dodge triggers a navi line every time. These are just my observations, of course. But these dodges happened many times, that's why I feel certain. Still, take my words with a grain of salt.
