I think I can speak for myself when I say you certainly hit the nail on the head. To have overbearing parents wanting to have bragging rights about their children's success really hit home for me. Growing up, they made all of my decisions that conflicted with what I wanted to do as I grew older. Even today, I still feel like I can't think for myself due to wondering what they would want instead of what I would want. I'm slowly growing out of that habit, and I know it'll get better once I'm on my own. This was very sweet, though. Boyfriend certainly knows how to make someone feel special. I wish the words he spoke about doing things for yourself and asking questions was something I wished my parents spoke to me about. Thank you for sharing this lovely moment with us. It was beautiful. I felt calm while listening and it made me a little happier knowing I had someone watching out for me. ❤
