Personal Fall Protection Equipment - Fall Factors

This video tutorial focuses on Fall Factors when utilising typical Y-type shock absorbing fall arrest lanyards.
The impact forces generated in a fall are significant, and are dependant on user weight, fall distance and type of lanyard.
The 100kg 'dummy' is used to highlight how important the use of shock absorbing lanyards conforming to the correct standards are, but also emphasises the benefits of safe use and maintaining high anchor points when using any fall arrest equipment.

Only issue I have is the visual at the beginning of the live climber latching his pelican hooks on single ladder rungs. Should always wrap around the vertical bars and the ladder rungs. This is so you are not relying on a single ladder rung if you fall.

Never put pelican hooks on a single rung of the ladder. Wrap the pelican around the vertical and horizontal. This is so if you do fall, you're not relying on a single ladder rung. If you wrap around the vertical bar aswell, you have many ladder rungs at your disposal if the first one fails.
