"a man will never ask a woman for help" this is so true but they also know this. this is why they sometimes send CHILDREN or other women to do that.

Story time: One day my sister and I wanted to go to the library to check out a few books but first I had to get gas because it was getting pretty low. After I filled up my car and got back inside to get ready to leave, my sister pointed at a black suv nearby and she told me that he was staring at me while I was filling up my car (btw it was the middle of the day around 1pm). I noticed that the black suv was still sitting there and just staring at us which really creeped me out. When we started to leave the black suv did as well. My sister started taking a video of the car and the license plate because it was getting suspicious and we felt unsafe about the situation. The guy in the car noticed that my sister was filming him and he drove off really quickly. I’m so grateful my sister was there with me because if she wasn’t the situation could’ve been way different. Always be aware of your surroundings!

Long/Short story: One day I was going home from the grocery store with my cousin, she was driving and I was on the passenger seat. Anyways, we were on an autostrad (a road where there are no buildings or anything next to and you can’t park there and most cars go really fast and no one stops there) and a man in his car drove next to ours and opened his window which means that he wants to ask us a question. He looked a little old, maybe in his 60s, my cousin slowed down and stopped the car next to his, he then told us that one of the front wheals was broken and that from the look of it the car can’t drive anymore or it’ll stop in 5 minutes of driving. He then got out of his car and started pointing at the front wheal and convincing us to get out of the car so we can take a look, we told him that we will go to a gas station and have someone look at it but he kept insisting for us to get out of the car and see it ourselves. And the more we would deny the angrier he would get. He then after 5 minutes of trying to get us out went back to his car with an angry face and drove off. After that my cousin and I went to a gas station and asked a worker there to check out the front wheal and when he looked at it he said that there’s nothing wrong with it, he even kicked it and nothing happened, after going home we also checked it and there was nothing, so obviously this guy was trying to get us to get out of the car in a place where no one would see us and god knows what he would have done. Everyone be safe!

-lock your doors the minute you get in your car and leave as soon as you can. If you need to send a quick text, have your doors locked. -if a car is following you, check by driving by the same place twice. If they’re still behind you, drive to a police station. -hold your keys while walking to your car at night. This way you have an alarm and a weapon at your disposal if needed. -never tell someone the exact dates that you’ll be home alone or away from your house unless they’re close family. If you don’t know someone well, don’t casually tell them that you’re home alone. -turn on location and allow a partner or friend access to it in case of emergency -if you’re going to get drunk, make sure a sober friend will be with you so that they can make sure you stay safe from anyone looking to take advantage (this happens scarily often especially during college parties. PLEASE make sure you have a plan before you get wasted.)

I have a grocery store parking lot story(it's long, just a warning) one night I went to Kroger and noticed that all the parking lot lights were out. I went inside and because it was after 8pm, the doors near the carts were closed and you had to enter the second entrance. So I entered and walked around the building, to get to the carts. There were 3 men just sitting in the empty and dark cart area. I felt awkward and politely smiled at them because they were staring at me. I finished shopping and as I was finishing at the self checkout, I noticed one of the men from the cart area, just standing at the exit, no bags in hand, like they were waiting for something. I had a bad feeling but I told myself I was being paranoid. He followed me out, but kept a decent distance behind me of about 8 feet. As I was walking through the dark parking lot to my car, a van drove by and their headlights momentarily lit up the area around my car. I saw two pairs of legs, like people were hunched over by the driver's side of my car. I looked behind me and the guy was still walking behind me, about 8 feet away. I felt trapped and didn't have my phone out because I am a idiot. I felt like I couldn't run back to the store without going past the guy behind me and I couldn't go to my car because of the weirdos by the driver's side. What I ended up doing was quietly put the bags that were in my cart, around my wrist. As I walked by my car, I pushed the cart and JUMPED into the passenger side door of my car, with my grocery bags around my wrist, hit the lock button, leaned over to the steering wheel and hit the horn as I hopped into the driver seat. Two men immediately popped up. One began knocking on my window, I think he was trying to say something was wrong with my tire, and telling me to get out of my car to look. The guy who had been trailing behind me, stood behind my car. They didn't seem to notice that the spot in front of my car was empty, so I just drove forward and I swear I heard one of them shout something about getting a number. I was shaking so hard and I parked at the opposite side of the parking lot and saw the men walking back towards the store. Trust your instincts. Have your phone out and if there is a parking lot with no lights, just leave 🤦 I think they were planning on waiting for me to put my groceries into the car and walk to the driver's side door, and when I instead jumped into the passenger side and slammed on the horn to draw attention to the area, they panicked and tried to make me think my tire was flat, to explain why they were hiding like that.

Facts::: my best friend literally was leaving the grocery store and she was attacked by two guys. They were trying to get Her into an SUV and handcuff her wrist to the door. Luckily she fought so hard and hit them with a frying pan. They couldn't get her in the SUV. All this happened right in front of the grocery store and not one person helped her. The only thing anyone did was record it and call the police. Both men eventually were caught but before they were, one guy ran off and he stole her ID. Again, luckily he was caught so she was able to get her ID back. There's so much more but it is true what she said.

"A man will never ask a woman for help" story: It was during a language stay in France when my friend and I were in a café for lunch and some random man asked me to help him with the wifi. I told him to ask the waiter that was standing right at the counter but that man insisted that I were to help him. My friend didn't know what to do, so I told her (in German) to call for the waiter. He told the man he'd help. Later on, my friend and I went to the beach for a little stroll and the same man approached us asking for some cash. My friend was about to look in her bag but I told her not to and told the man that we did not have cash on us. He insisted that any bit is enough and I noticed him taking steps closer. My friend got really nervous because she is not used to this and her anxiety made me feel the need to protect her. That's when I pulled out my phone, took a picture of his face and screamed at the top of my lungs that I will call the police if he doesn't leave immediately. It worked - temporarily. The next evening, the same man approached me while my friend was getting us ice cream. (The audacity!?) I recognized him immediately but I wanted to see what he could come up with this time. Mf asked me to help him find his keys that he had dropped somewhere on a side alley. I declined and he tried to guilttrip me into it. If the street wasn't that crowded, I would've hurt him long ago but the risk of accidentally traumatizing random kids was too high, so I just rolled my eyes, flicked my hair and gave him a peek at the picture I had taken the previous day. His reaction was priceless. It just proves that predators either do not care who they target or get really stubborn. Edit: We did tell our host family and had them help us file a report at the police office. No clue what happened afterward because the following incidents didn't involve him anymore.

Flashback to when I was taking tutoring classes two years back because Sophomore Year has quite a competitive exam in my country. The institution was a twenty minutes walking distance from my home and I was a regular. On the crossroad of that institution there was a small stall vendor who used to sell masks, socks and stuff like that. He was a short man with a round tummy and looked completely harmless. Adjacent to that was a sugarcane juice stall. I used to buy it everyday to avoid dehydration while walking. It was around December and I had been going there for roughly 6 months. One cold evening, I had some extra class, as a result it got really dark and was around half past eight. As I was returning home, I walked past the same stall and onto the street. I was walking alone with nothing, not even a cellphone but with a backpack of just books. And to my surprise, I saw the same vendor walking _ahead_ of me. As he kept walking my skepticism rose. Therefore, I crossed the road and started walking ahead of him but from the opposite side of the road. To my shock, he crossed it too and was hot on my heels. I turned around the corner, he did too. But, now we were in a cramped place. It was kind of a market and he was behind me. So my 15 year old brain had an idea to stop and pretend to purchase something because he wouldn't be able to halt and would definitely go ahead with the crowd. I did exactly that and started looking through different designs and details of masks in deep thought. I deliberately took more time than necessary just to be extra cautious. After a few minutes I bought a black mask with silver strips. I was content but that dissipated just as fast because, I saw the same man, standing on the pavement, behind a tree, staring intently at me. And as I took my first step ahead from that shop, he too calmly came down from the pavement. I started walking real fast leaving him trailing behind. My heart was thumping so hard against my ribcage. To say I was petrified would be an understatement. I could've pissed my pants from those dreadful and ominous vibes alone. Fortunately, I saw a familiar lady who was doing her daily grocery shopping. But we had never interacted much in the past. For the record, I wasn't even sure about the fact that we lived in the same complex. Had to ask her for confirmation. Anyhow I stuck around her and gave her a gist of my situation. We were still on the same street, mind you. She then questioned something around the lines of, "Where/who/which one is he?" And I shakingly mumbled something like, "Don't turn around, please don't turn around." She did. I don't know what she saw but she reassured me that there was no man following us. I didn't dare look back. She dropped me off safely in my apartment's elevator. I thanked her sincerely and genuinely expressed my gratitude. P. S. English is just a language that I learned at school so I believe I'm not so adept at it, please correct my errors if you can.

The best advice I know for protecting is one obviously being aware of your surroundings when you’re alone and be prepared to fight if you have to, but if you are noticing someone following you or watching you, the best thing to do is watch back. Something I learned from my mom is to always when your a couple feet from your car check underneath it! Sometimes people will hide underneath and when you get to the drivers side will grab your ankles or slash them with a weapon making it so you can’t get away. Another tip when you’re opening your car door face it so you are parallel to the door. This way if someone tries to attack you, you can use the door as a shield so they can’t push you in the car. Stay safe!

The road was right next to the playground. It was nearly dark and no one was outside except me and josh (mum and dad were in the motorhome making dinner). A van pulled over on the side of the road, next to me and my brother. There were two men in the van just watching us and their back windows were covered with tinfoil so you couldn’t see in. After about 10 minutes they were still watching us and that’s when my dad came out and told us dinner was ready. As soon as they saw my dad the men drove off. I don’t know what could have happened but I feel it was likely they might’ve tried to kidnap us.

a man will never ask a woman for help is so true, and this is only now helping me explain why i felt so unsafe when a guy approached me and asked me for directions to the gym one time when i was on my way back from school. He insisted i walk him there and walked really close next to me, asking me where i lived and where i was from etc etc and every time i stopped walking he would tell me to keep walking. I was so scared but i didnt knwo what to do so i whent into a corner shop and told one of the ladies who worked there that the guy behind me was following me (he was literally following me around the shop and looking over my shoulder whispering in my ear asking me questions). I burst into tears when i told her and she immediately got inbetween us and kicked him out if the shop. She was so nice about everything and allowed me to stay behind the till for as long as i wanted and offered me free food and water until i felt safe to leave. I dont knwo what i would have done without her because her corner shop was the last shop before turning into a much quieter and secluded road so i dont knwo what that man would have done to me if i whent there. When i told my family about this they all made light if the situation and my sister even laughed at me and said i should have said no to walking with him, and until now i couldnt explain why i was so scared of him because they made me feel like it was nothing to be scared of. But in the moment it was so scary and its because i knew he obviously had bad intentions and i could never explain why, but its because men truly dont EVER ask women for help, and especially if they INSIST you do help them and do what they want, they definitely will try and do something bad to you

Adding onto the parking lot one: always try to park with your driver side door facing the entrance of the building. That way you can get in quickly and leave, or see if someone is standing near your driver door Also, law enforcement have asked convicted rapists and killers why they chose the targets they did. A lot of the time, the answer didn't have to do with looks, instead it was the person who was alone and distracted, and overall a really easy target.

Here’s something creepy I experienced: So in my first year at design school they took us to this art gallery a little away from my house. My college is a lot further from there & they took us to this gallery via bus. It was around 4:30 pm when the gallery tour ended & two of my friends & I decided to not go back to college with the group since our houses would be easily reachable from there. Right opposite to that gallery is a park called the Central Park (not the New York one, this is in India) . It was my first time visiting that area with my friends & I’d never gone to that park before , so we decided to go. It was a beautiful park right beside a lake & we stayed there for one and a half hours until it began getting dark. I called my dad up & he asked me to be alert as that area was notorious of crime. We actually didn’t know which way to go and were discussing about it in-front of the park gate. Anyway, we settled on walking a while & then taking a public transport from the main road. My two friends & I started walking along the sidewalk . By that time it was really dark & it was even darker because the sidewalk was covered with dense trees. We were chatting & kept walking . I suddenly realised that there were two men is dark hoodies , with the hood up , constantly walking behind us. I didn’t tell it to my friends at first since I wasn’t sure but soon I realised we were being followed. I didn’t stop & whispered it to them as we were walking . I asked them to laugh out loud & act like everything was normal. We kept (fake)laughing & talking about how all of us had knives in our bags. ( I actually did have a paper cutter in mine because of the crafts projects we have) We kept increasing our pace little by little and I constantly had my phone in my hand with my finger firmly placed on the on & off button, which pressed for more than 3 times sets off an emergency alarm & texts all your emergency contacts your location with a message asking for help. This walk went on for forever and in the end we started running. I looked behind & the men were now also running. I finally saw this shop infront with bright lights & asked my friends to stop there. This was a fairly crowded place & we couldn’t find the men anymore. As soon as we reached the main road we decided to take any vehicle & rush home. It was the scariest encounter I’ve had & I’m so glad all three of us got home safely. My conclusion is that the men probably heard us talking earlier & realised we had no clue about this area . That’s when they made us their easy target. A major tip in these situations is to never show the person how scared you are. That is exactly what they want. Also, the emergency button in iPhone is really wonderful.

Little story here.. I was walking in what I thought was my safe neighborhood, back when I lived in a fancy suburban place with my ex. It was daytime, around 2pm. I sorta knew my way around the neighborhood but not super well since I had only lived there for a year and I was completely new to the area. This white pickup truck started slowly driving behind me, I thought it was a work truck or maybe they are going slow to pull into their house. I’m on the sidewalk and I pick up speed as I’m starting to get nervous. The truck continues to follow me slowly, I send my location to my boyfriend and text him the situation. We go down a few streets and I get up into the neighbors yard and start taking a video of the truck. The truck then speeds away. I never walked alone again. Things like this has happened a few times, I would keep my Labrador with me when I walked hoping that would deter someone. I carried a pepper spray gun, that actually looked like a gun and had a holster. I had a taser, tactical weapons and an alarm on me. Still never felt safe. I hate driving, I have been followed to the point I had to drive into the hospital parking lot and call the police. The police got that person but still I don’t understand why this happens so often.

Finally a helpful video about this stuff. A few weeks ago I saw a post like "3 Things To Do When You Feel Suspicious Of A Stranger On The Street." Get these three gems that were bestowed upon the internet. "Wear earphones to avoid conversations, be rude to any suspicious man that comes up to you, and speed walk/run." This was on some like tumblr feminist Instagram account. Helping women by impairing their hearing, fatiguing them before anything happens, and ensuring that they piss off any psycho who already made them a target. Like bruh it's better to just not say anything than to give the literal worst self defense and preparedness advice ever told. Like just because the advice is posted on a woman-focused account doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. Stay alert. Put the phone away, look around you, listen around you, and save your energy for if you need it. He'll, if you're in a city you could just yell "police brutality!" and the entire block will start watching you.

Lock your car when you get in. Sometimes I gotta pull up directions when I get in my car and I don't want to do it driving but I always lock it as soon as the door closes. Don't look down/away if someone is asking for help. Ex: stranger asks "what's the time?" Hold the watch/phone up don't look down at your phone/watch. When you're looking at someone it's easier to react if they try to grab your purse or attack you vs looking down at your wrist and distracted.

To go with the parking lot abductions thing: if a large vehicle is parked next to you so that their driver's side is next to yours (like if they backed in next to your normally parked car) be on high alert. If the windows are heavily tinted or there are no windows so you can't see in, either enter from the passenger side of your car, immediately lock the doors, then crawl over to the driver's side, or go back in and ask for an escort to your vehicle. Do not go the driver's side alone! It's so easy for somebody to grab you and drive off that way. It may be nothing, somebody just wanted to park that way, but it's always better safe than sorry.

When you get in your car, LOCK YOUR DOORS as SOON AS YOU CLOSE IT! Look around before you walk up to your car, make sure no one is extremely close to you! And majority of the time if you're walking somewhere and someone pulls up on a car and have a knife or gun..they can't stab you or hold it against you until theyre close RUN fast and into a store or populated area! If it's a gun they probably won't shoot you to draw attention to themselves..run quick and not in a straight line!
@mercedeslaster650
@mercedeslaster650 2 жыл бұрын
Always always always run in a straight line. Running in a zigzag will actually slow you down and make you easier to catch. Also a slower target is an easier target to hit. If you were to take a video of someone running in a straight line and slow it down you will see that the individual is actually swaying their body from left and right quite drastically so a bullet will most likely miss unless the shooter is trained which is not the case for most criminals, especially criminals that would pull a gun on someone that is far enough away to run.

But after a few seconds, I left there, and a big coconut fell right on the spot I was standing a few moments ago. I then realized that there was a coconut tree and if I knew it properly, I will never stand there like that because elders always warned me from the start, "be careful near coconut trees because they can fall and hit your head really hard" I know this is not a public danger but Still, it can ruin your life or take your life away. *Please always check before standing anywhere and I was super lucky that time and greatful that she called me on time or God knows what would've happened*

When I was a pre teen, my friends and I met a group of guys and girls on a basketball court near our park, 4 of them where our ages (i was 12, my friends were 13) and the new kids had their 16yo brother with them. I thought the 13yo younger brother was really cute and he wanted to date me so I went for it. My friends warned me that they got major creep vibes off the group, but I thought they were just being discriminatory because they came from a poorer area than we did. I ended up being groomed and abused by the older brother and the other two freinds until I was 16 and finally gained the courage to escape. I ended up blocking out the abuse until a few years ago and it all rushed back to me at once. I tried to go through the police but it was thrown out because the only witness (the guy I dated) unfortunately died in an unexpected accident and he hadn't told anyone else. Unfortunately now I suffer severe trauma and can't remember large sections of my teen years because I spent so long blocking it out. Quick Story: When i was in 6th grade, I've randomly just decided to wait for my dad outside our school to pick me up instead of waiting inside on the mini waiting shed, cuz in that way, i could see my dad way easier. (Outside was still part of the school btw, an outdoor yk yk) while i was standing waiting for my dad, an old lady gradually kept coming closer to me and strangely keeps looking at me. I keep moving away but she kept standing near me. She asked me "waiting for someone to pick you up?" (I was so freakin scared that time cuz One, I'm an introvert, Two, she was a stranger which most highly i wouldn't interact with) I statteredly replied "uhh yea, my dad" and she just nodded her head. I kept moving my body to look for my dad and luckily i saw him immediately. I've shouted "DAD!" and ran to him, this old lady was kinda close when i approached my dad and she said "she's been waiting for you for quite long ☺️" while idk giggling(?) I've told my family abt it and told me to not wait outside again.

Also, don’t be reading your phone as you walk to your car or anywhere, look straight ahead with shoulders back and walk briskly and confidently. Do not wear noise cancelling headphones out and about and do not walk with earphones in your ears (it is a signal to predators that you have blocked your hearing and are an easier target). If you sense someone walking behind you, don’t just quickly try to take a sneaky glance from the side. Turn fully around while you’re walking and assess who is behind you. You want to look like someone who will not be an easy target, who is confident and will fight. Last but not least, CARRY A FIREARM. Get your CCL license and practice regularly at the range. You have the right to defend yourself! I would much prefer to read more stories about attempted rapists and abductors shot and killed rather than another innocent woman found in a ditch because she was helpless.

Lol, when I go for long walks during the day (12,000-15,000 steps, 2.5 hours, about 8-11 km) I ALWAYS have my earbuds in, but I either have one in one out, or both in but medium sound so that I can still hear. If its later in the day (5 pm-8:30 pm, it gets dark at 8:30 here cause of daylight savings) I take my earbuds out completely and peer over my shoulder. I ALWAYS walk as fast as I can and get back home as soon as possible, and on days where I really dont wanna go outside, I walk indoors. I wanna lose weight and get fit, that way I can at least run if someone tries to chase me. If someone tried to chase me now I would die like some dumbass in a horror movie. Update: I am no longer walking as I'm in Australia and ITS FUCKIN SUMMER AND I HATE MY EXISTENCE

Walking and appearing confident will not help. In the most sexist way possible, men hate it when women are confident. They want us to be afraid. Making yourself appear confident can make you a bigger target depending on your bodytype. If you're a tall muscular woman then men wouldn't really try to mess with you. If you're anything but muscular and/or tall you can be a target for men. In fact, it's advised to just mind yourself and try to avoid making eye contact with men. Men who are looking for a victim will probably go for the first woman who makes eye contact with them. Walk at a normal speed, not too slow and not too fast. Don't let the man know you're afraid but don't appear too confident. Please DO NOT look behind you and ESPECIALLY do not turn around completely to look at the man following you. DONT let him know that you know you're being followed. Don't think you can muscle your way out of it. Even if the man behind you is short and skinny, he is still way stronger than you can imagine. Don't depend on speed either. He can definitely outrun you. Why do you think male and female sports are separated? And why do you think male athletes achieve much much more than female athletes? You need to use thinking. Do you have your car keys in your hands? Could you use them as a shank to distract him then kick him in between his legs? Do you have pepper spray or a taser or any other item you can use to defend yourself? Maybe your phone's flashlight to distract him as well? It's best to have him preoccupied with something else before making a run for it. Men will shrivel up on the floor and cry for 30 minutes to an hour if kicked hard between the legs. Another weak spot is their necks, eyes, and a specific spot in the middle of their abdomen right underneath the chest. Don't be afraid to get nasty and kill him. You can go ahead and dig your car keys into his neck. Bite him as hard as you can if you need to. Punch him right in the eye as he's distracted by the injury on his neck and the bite marks as you proceed to kick him between the legs. Think fast, ladies. Having a firearm with you at all times is unnecessary. Pepper spray or a zapper is already enough. If you live in an unsafe area or are afraid, it's advised to take female self-defense classes. I know this might sound fucked up, but know that even in public you still might not be safe. Even if there are many people around, you'd be surprised that most won't try to help you if a man does anything to you to avoid conflict. Don't always be on alert even in crowds, but keep it in mind whenever you're walking down a busy street. You won't always be saved if harassed publicly.

Honestly though, the lack of pockets in women’s clothing can be a safety hazard in some situations, so some advice from me would be to try men’s pants, it may seem weird, but trust me, the only real difference is sizing and pockets, nobody’s gonna tell the difference, but you have a good place to store things you need so you don’t have to dig around, keys in one pocket, maybe phones and earbuds (if you have them) in another, and wallet with IDs in a back one if you have jeans, if not, use the same one as your keys. Some women’s clothing have pockets, so get those if you want to and can find them, but if not, men’s would probably be better than digging through a purse distracted and unaware of anyone who could have dangerous intent

So last year I was doing a christmas play at the community theatre. I'm very introverted, so I had just managed to comfortable with the cast at last and opening night was not far away. My adult sister (she's actually my birth mom, I'm just adopted by my grandma) always took me to rehearsals. She was helping in the backstage areas with props, when a random guy walked up to the people making props. The area they were making the props in was basically just a garage, so they had the door up. The guy starts asking for money and asks if he can come in. It was winter, so it kind of makes sense he'd want to come inside if it was cold, but it wasn't cold. My state is usually an ok temperature in November/December. He was acting weird, so they politely say he cannot come in and wait for him to leave before shutting the door. Or so they thought. He actually stole my sister's purse. I had come out of the changing room just after the guy supposedly left, because I had a feeling something was going on. My sister says she can't find her purse, so I help her look for it, but I cannot stay because I'm in the middle of rehearsals. I find out about the guy, and I think "oh my god this can not be a coincidence." What's creepier is that the changing room for the kids is right beside the open garage, and there is a curtain leading to the room, not even a door. We went the whole night, and nobody can find the purse. At one point, EVERYONE starts looking for it. I was actually told to go outside at about 11 PM alone as a teenager, without my phone since my sister had it (her phone was in her purse), and look for the car. I didn't even have time to change into normal clothes, I was wearing a leotard and no shoes. It was cold now because it was about midnight. Even if the days here aren't cold, the nights are. This was obviously a terrible idea. In addition, I have diagnosed anxiety with autism, and I was literally having a panic attack. I knew that mf was still out there and it was dangerous for me to go out there like that, so I stayed mostly inside and leaned out the door, and it was a good thing I did because he was actually still out there, and I heard some noise so I closed the door. I saw the car was still there anyways. He actually waited for the music director to drive us to our house before he stole the car (because everyone still thought the purse was missing). So for some reason, we wait to call the cops until my mom and my sister leave me and my little brother at home. My mom got a brand new car literally the day before this happened. We were really lucky to have gotten that car then or else we'd have no way to get anywhere. They arrive back at the theatre with the cops, and the car is gone. We have life360 on our phones, so I was trying to track my sisters phone with that. It was on battery saving mode, which means it shouldn't have updated the location, but it did anyways. I text my mom a picture of where it says the phone is. This helps, and they find the guy in less than an hour. He had actually stolen two cars with his girlfriend that same week and they just got out of prison a couple of weeks ago. He immediately confessed as soon as he was caught. All that was missing was a few dollars, some random items (pens mostly), and my mcdonalds fries.

I remember when I was around 11 years old, I was walking home from my soccer practice a summer evening around like 6:30. And this shirtless man with no shoes who looked and acted like he was super high came running up to me. We were behind a building in an backlane. (since I was a kid and it was a shortcut) He started yelling at me. I was very nervous and sprinted back to where some of my team mates and coach's where. I was sobing and the strange man was still running, until he saw my 2 male coaches and 1 of my friend's dad. I told them everything through tears and they called the police. They came but never ended up finding the strange man. To this day still live in the same neighborhood and I don't ever want to walk alone. Also I never could thank the teammates and people that helped me and hugged me when I was going through a very scary time.♥️

This one goes along with the grocery store thing… ( it’s a long one. ) So one day I was at Walmart with my mom and she had to go to the bathroom while we were waiting in line for the checkout and she told me to just save our space in line so I stood there while she went to use the restroom. So then like 2 minutes after she left these two big creepy guys come up behind me in the line of checkout (fyi this line was super long there were 3 ppl with huge carts in front of me) and the guys had literally maybe 3 things. Also they left the line that they were in to be behind me… 😳😳😬😬 and they are whispering mind you I am like 11 or 12 at the time so I am obviously really scared of these men at this point. So anyway they are whispering and all I hear is the biggest guy saying “that one” and I turn a little bit so I could see if he was pointing at me and sure enough he was. So I then freak out and turn around in the line and bolt for the bathroom. So my ladies out here always trust your gut because if you think about it why would they leave their really short line to come with me in my long line and when my mom left. So just remember that there are bad people out there and they will do whatever they can to get there hands on girls. Especially sex traffickers will do this.

My situation is nowhere near as intense as some of the ones I’ve read here. However, I was getting off my shift at a gas station and decided to fill my tank after work. It was Easter, sometime in the afternoon. And if anything were to go majorly wrong I could get help from coworkers inside the station. This man comes up behind me as I’m filling my tank, and says “hey” or something like that, asked if I could do him a favor. Now I wasn’t alone out there, but I immediately felt nervous and decided the best course of action was to act sort of like a b*tch lol thinking maybe he’d get the memo and go away. I’m not normally like that to strangers, but from what I’ve gathered, men don’t like “women who don’t smile at them”; they avoid them, at least I would hope. So I answered him with a stern “What?” And he proceeded to ask for a ride to his friend’s. I don’t remember if he even gave an exact location, but I do know it wasn’t just “down the road”. Regardless, I would’ve said no anyways. So I told him I couldn’t because I had to get home immediately. I seriously didn’t know what else to say, like what do you say, right? And he’s like “oh, are you not allowed to be out driving, you got a permit or something?” I was 20 at the time and I had my license, like damn you think I’m gonna drive alone illegally? Idk why he would say that tbh. I said no it’s Easter and I have to get home and then he kinda just left. What bugs me also, is that my boyfriend, who is very loving and caring 99% of the time told me afterwards that my excuse should’ve been: “I can’t drive you because I have a boyfriend” 😒 who was not even present at the time, mind you. I basically just explained that he wouldn’t understand how a man will not take that kind of answer. If you’re a woman and you’re alone, your boyfriend or whoever can’t protect you from possible harm just by mentioning them, but apparently he didn’t get it because he never has to worry about it. So yeah even though it wasn’t all that scary, it’s important to know that the reality for women is that you never know what could happen when you’re out on your own.

No offense to your bf, I'm sure he thought he was being helpful, like maybe he thought that statement would scare a guy with questionable motives off. But the fact that you saying you needed to get home on a holiday wasn't even enough to get this guy to drop it immediately, makes me think he would have definitely not taken the boyfriend excuse well at all. I think needing to get home quick is always valid, but on a pretty major holiday, that makes a lot of sense (because you could have family visiting, big dinner in the oven, and so on). It was actually a really good excuse for you to come up with outta nowhere, particularly bc it wasn't insulting to him. He could have taken an excuse like "no I don't give strangers rides" as an insult and come back at you like "you don't trust me? do I look like a bad guy?" or something similar, leading to more conversation that might go south or make him more "offended". If anything, I think the "I can't. I have a boyfriend" excuse would just prompt the man to immediately make a comment about dating you or something worse, like overtly sexual. I wouldn't be surprised if a man's response to that was "You can't give me a ride because dating someone? You think I wanna date you? Do you usually wanna hook up with someone if you give them a ride?" Since giving someone a lift and your relationship status don't seem related at all, I just think it could easily lead to the man making perverted comments.

Pleaase be aware of your surroundings I got a story too, my friend and i roller skate and theres this park across the street from where she lives, a mcdonalds is close by and a gas station is next to the park. It was starting to get a little darker but there were lights so it wasnt too big of a deal. We were inside of a tennis court because it has a smooth surface. I when i noticed this car, where the gas station is, that was in the driveway not turning into a street and just sitting there. There were no cars in the small street so he couldve turned just fine. At that point im already sketched out. I see this car go straight into the parking lot for the park and i immediately tell my friend we’re getting tf out of there. At that point she wasnt great on skates and i was teaching her so she had to take her skates off so shed at least have a chance to run if it came down to it. This guy parks on the side of the tennis court which has a little alley way and chills there for a minute. Then he comes out and smokes a cigarette. We were about to leave when he comes into the tennis court and asks my friend where we came in from because he had a dog and wanted to let him out there but didnt want the dog to run away. There were two entrances in the tennis court and he came in from the opposite entrance. She tells him from one of the entrances and he says oh okay and leaves the court and parks right outside one of the entrances. We get tf out of there and bolt into the mcdonalds that was near by because if we had gone to my friends place he wouldve known where she lived. The workers were so nice as it was still a time where the pandemic was big and no one was allowed to eat in and one of the female managers even offered us a ride home but my friend lived right across the street. Always trust your instincts and be aware of your surroundings. Also download the app Noonlight. Its an app that contacts the police and any friends or family members with a push of a button. If youre not able to answer back to the apps text or cancel the button they send coordinates to the police of your location. I used it at that time as the guy was talking to my friend.

I will say it again, as an Uber driver do not ask the driver to verify who you are. You are responsible for self. The app has the driver’s license plate number, make and model and their actual picture on the app. Go to the back of the driver’s car and verify for your own safety. Look and see for yourself if the vehicle on the picture matches the picture that they are driving and look at their face. Yes, it has a mask, but the eyes and forehead and hair should be the same. Be responsible for self. You are responsible for yourself. Depending on your driver when he only has a name is careless. Yes it’s tedious, but practice will become habit. And please don’t delete my response just because you don’t like that a female driver is sharing common sense that can save your life.

A little tip: If your coming out of a place walking to your car, get everything in your hands, if your car is a bit away, right as you leave the place, get your stuff in your hands and run to your car. It will always help, just in case someone is trying to watch you. And either go on the passenger side or driver side, and lock your car and try to drive away as fast as you can. It will help avoid people and get you out of the parking lot faster.

I was playing in ground and I don't remember how I reached the stairs of his building. He was there and was forcing me to go up with him. I was constantly refusing him and then he was like holding my hand and saying I will give you candies...and in confusion I just started slowly to go with him...I was like he is my Sister's best friend Father. May be my sister's friend is calling me....but after few seconds my Sister came and she just Rescued me... literally she was looking like an angel at that time...I just wanted to hug her that time...My sister is very Confident from the start...so she just said to him that it's pretty late. We have to go home now....but I feel sad why she didn't asked him about what he was actually doing...but she was not Very Young at that time as well but she did saved me....she was shaking herself but she was not as dumbo as me....and Iam Soo glad that I have her😊❤️

These days I cough out loud (while having my mask on) and people don't approach because covid duh. This happened last year. I was a foreign student and was living in that country for 2 years. So I was familiar with my surrounding. However that day I was walking out of subway and my brother face timed me. It was around 1pm in broad day light. I was pretty much invested in the call and was looking at my brother while walking. I didn't realise someone was following me. That person was keeping a safe distant probably becaue I was in a video call. I had to cross the road so I told my brother to hold on and was waiting for the crossing light. Then I felt weird when I look around because eventhough I was invested in the call I felt like this person was coming behind for a few minutes and now he was standing super close. So I crossed the road and in milliseconds the person was in my space and I had no idea what to do. My instant reaction was coughing. I acted like I'm having a coughing fit and he backed off immediately I turned around and ran inside a cafe and waited there for about two hours before leaving. Always pay attention to your surroundings even if it is broad day light or a crowded place. Pickpocketers are everywhere and they can be the most decent looking men with a suit and a briefcase or a lady with a stroller or an expensive looking outfit.

@@andyli3608 I never said anything about dehumanising. Most women rush to help anyone hurt or in distress anyway. I got a story about the car parking lot thing. So I was leaving the grocery store and I notice this group of maybe 20 or 19 year old boys (there was like 5 of them) just standing outside in the middle of the parking lot. There was only my car and maybe 4 other ones in the parking lot. I started walking pretty fast to it because 2 of the men were chasing me. I had my phone in my pocket and my car keys in my hand (keep in mind my keys have pepper spray on them) as I was walking closer to my car I could see threw the passenger window that the other 2 were near my driver side door. I start running gripping my pepper spray and I quickly open my car and jump into the back seat (it was the easiest thing to get into.) I leaned over to start my car to honk at the men to get away. By the way, my windows were down a bit because it was hot-for some weird reason. And so I climb into the front seat and I noticed one of the guys putting there hand THREW the WINDOW so I'm over here freaking out and without thinking I STAB HIS HAND WITH ONE OF MY KEYS ON MY PASSENGER SEAT (the key was to my front door) and he screams and pulls his hand away and the other dude put his head threw the window (by the way the window was open enough where a persons head could fit in but not a body) and so without thinking I grab my pepper spray and spray it in his eyes and once he backs up I roll up the windows and SPEED out of the parking lot. Yeah no, I never go to the store without someone walking me to my car or my roommate comes with me.

Story time: One day, me(10yo) and my sister(13yo) wanted to go on a walk because we were bored and it was a nice day, my parents didn't want to let us at first because our dog was somewhere else at the moment so she couldn't protect us if anything happened but they eventually agreed so we went and everything was fine until the way back, now, me and my sister have always been very paranoid so we always look behind us and my sister took a pocket knife pretty much everywhere she went but back to the story, we were on our way back and I look behind me and see a big man wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, but we could see his face and I didn't recognize him which was kind of weird because we lived in a small neighbourhood and we all knew each other but at first I brushed it off thinking that he was probably just on a walk but I was still aware and after a few corners, he was still behind us so I looked at my sister and she looked behind us and saw the man. We walked a bit more, he was still behind us so I was internally panicking but my sister turned to me and asked if I wanted to race, I immediately said yes and we took off running, not looking back and we soon got home because we were pretty close already, as soon as we got in the house I hugged my mother but neither of us told anyone about this. To this day I wonder what would have happened if my sister wasn't there, please be aware of your surroundings because the world can be truly dangerous.

Turned out they were 16 & 17 yrs old,& the gun was not loaded, but we did not know that.i would love to get a hold of their parents.1 was charged as an adult, the other charged as a juvenile.so BE AWARE EVERYWHERE,even at home where we should feel the safest. I live in a pretty safe and affluent area, but my brother almost got kidnapped once walking home alone, and that has changed my perception on so many things. He was walking home late at night, even though I’m sure he knew better he thought he would be safe and he wasn’t. My heart stopped in that moment cause I was thinking of all the bad things that could’ve happened, and if I would never see him again. The world is truly not safe anymore, you’ve gotta lock your doors and always sleep with one eye open. It’s nothing wrong with being cautious and meticulous, it is worth it in the long run, trust me.

Men, particularly young men, are statistically more likely to be attacked by a stranger than a woman, so sensible precautions should be taken by everyone. In both cases the attacker is also more likely to be male. But attacks are also rare enough that you shouldn’t run your whole life in fear. Even the US is a relatively safe country and we live in unbelievably safety levels across the world compared to all of history. Be careful yes but enjoy yourself too.

And when I was doing the Lolita Style when I was more feminine, I even got followed from the store all the way infront of my house, I had my mom on face time the whole time, but she was at work and my acrophobic aunt came running to get me with her umbrella and hat and face mask. She said politely she couldn't. But the man said he would have a problem with it so she said "Let me get my shoes on" just to go in her room and lock the door and windows, she told her mom everything and she said to the man "Hey my mom is coming to help you with the box" the second she said that he ran away in shame and never bothered her again It is called "Mr Mailman I hope we don't meet again" I think

So our mom continued to walk our dog, and my brother and I started walking up the street to our house (our house wasn’t far away from where we had stopped). Suddenly, some completely random guy steps out of the BUSHES and starts following us. He also had a backpack, and we had no idea what could have been in it. Thankfully, my brother turned around and saw him, so he told me we were going to have a race (I was around four or five and he didn’t want me to be scared) so we both just bolted like hell all the way home and when we made a sharp turn, he didn’t see us. He also didn’t see which house we went into. Our mom saw the whole thing so she came home immediately and we locked our door quickly. Scary experience, especially because our dad was out of town. 👍
