Dear Dr Solanki, thank you for these videos. It would be beneficial if you can, please do a video on interviews. Another topic which comes to my mind is how did you research programs, and what did you look for while researching programs in FRIEDA? If you used anything else. Please mention it. Once again thank you for posting your experience, and creating this channel.

Hey there! Thank you for your kind words and support. I will be doing a whole entire series on interviewing - it will come out after my residency app series is done (later on in the year, just before the interview season). I will have a video out on researching programs in both Frieda + Residency Explorer - coming out in a few weeks! Stay tuned and good luck, please keep providing feedback, I want to make videos on topics that you all want to see!

Dr. V, thank you so much for the very informative video and tips! I have one question regarding personal statements please. Does it look bad to programs if you edit and update your personal statement AFTER submission of your ERAS application? I ended up updating mine multiple times after and the pop-up on ERAS said "your updated PS will be sent directly to the assigned programs". Are the programs notified of this specifically and does this look really bad on your part?

Taking into account that Step 1 is becoming pass/fail. How important is knowadays to address a poor step 1 score in the personal statement despite passing on first attempt?
@vaibhavisolankivm.d.59874 жыл бұрын
Hey! With the step 1 changing only as of Feb 2020, I'm assuming the next 2-3 application cycles will still take into account Step 1 as they have been in the past. Unless you're in the position where you've written Step 1 for the first time after the change (aka the only step score you have on file is pass/fail) and are applying to this year's cycle then I think maybe it'll matter less. If you have already written a usmle exam and didn't score as well as you wanted to or it's below the average for that specialty, then I don't think it's a bad idea to address the obstacle in the PS. Definitely keep researching the impact of the step 1 change on the residency application using the AAMC or AMA websites! Good luck :)
