As nice as it is spending time with family, sometimes we just need some alone time to balance it out. Just like with the new, it's good to be nostalgic of the old. Here are my thoughts and feelings being back and seeing how quickly everything has changed.

I feel you about the family thing. I don’t live near mine either. They can be toxic at times. I like being alone too with my dog of course. She’s better than people. The one thing I’ve realized at this age, I’ll be 40 in September is that everybody is getting older. It’s a hard pill to swallow. Just means we have to live it up your already doing that. Thanks for sharing! That place looks like fun.

My parents live about an hour+ away and I visit them every two weeks or so, unless there’s a special or medical need. I totally know what you mean about the drain of constant presence. Even if I’m at their house for just one night, I need breaks, like watching my own videos in my room or walking outside while they watch the Netflix romcom I set them up with in the den! 😅 I do keep my door open and pop in and out but .. they’re ok with that. When I’m present I give a lot of attention and frankly, work, cook, give love in any way. I do financial stuff like taxes and bills, fix their computer and stuff, train them on technology hoping it sticks, set caregiver arrangements, take inventory and order depends, post it notes, peanut butter, dish soap etc 🤷‍♀️ Your sister might share some of these jobs so please ask her about and don’t discount that. They often go to the daughters. But anyway, quality over quantity is always the best recipe and I’m glad you get that 😊

Nomad business lifetyle is great fun; but eventually life will catch up to you. My elderly dad had a pacemaker operation at his local hospital; but i was not there to take him to hosptal and back home. Instead my cousin sister took on the task; but it was my responsibility. Years later, i took time off work to help care for my elderly father. When the leave ran out, i had to hand in my resignation. I was there for my dad when he decided to move into the aged care home. You shouldn't shirk your responsibilities to your elderly parents. They were there for you when you were born, you have to be there for them in their twilight years.

Admirable you did this, but everyone's journey and family are different. You have to be careful about applying your conclusions based on your experience to others. Especially in the extremely sensitive and complex journey of aging families. Saying "you should do this and shouldn't do that and they were there for you"...etc...is just insensitive , especially from afar. Boundaries.....

@@azdbuk It's not about being admirable. This channel I think, is about being successful without the 9-5 corporate lifestyle. However, if you cannot look after your parents, your employees and be nice to the people around you, then I think that is not the kind of success that I want. If you also watch nomad capitalist, that guy is cold, he's got a good setup; but that kind of successful lifestyle is so cold and selfish. And does not align to my own obligations of being a good son to Asian parents.

Thank you for this lovely video little brother and thanks for doing what you need to take care of yourself. As your older sister, I only have love for you and yes in the past we have fought a lot as children and then one day we grow up and learn about who we are and the things we have done wrong and the people we have hurt and you know deep in my heart I would apologize for anything that I’ve done in the past that have ever made you sad. love you so much and so proud of what you’re doing. Seeing our beloved parents age is very traumatic and sad for us. All you can do for them Johnny is your very best, however you do that, financially, helping with their care or food or housing. I know you do a lot already and have done so for a while. For me, it meant crossing the World constantly to give hands-on care and give huge financial commitments, but I wouldn't change what I did for the World. We must all do what we can live with later. I would hate to think now, after my parents are sadly gone, that I did nothing or let them flounder. You are a kind and good man.

My mom had a strong personality also. It was difficult for me to cope with her mood swings, which I assumed was normal, and I didn't realize that it was normal for her---but not necessarily for everybody else. She lived to be 91 and was still independent and very sharp until the end.

From what you said about the situation with your Mom and Sister's strong personalities and their clashing and sometimes arguing, maybe your Father needed to get out of the hotel room for a while, and away... I can understand that he lost his way, and as you pointed out, he did the smart thing and went to the station and waited there. He explained to the Police that he got lost. Anyway, nice that you all reunited for a time. It's been a long while.

After that I no longer talk to my Brother because i know what is going to end up happening. I am really sad and miss him and people say but that is your Brother but they do not really understand.
