Personal vs A6: My Thoughts + Experience

We use A4, A5 and A6 in Europe. You fold an A4 sheet to get an A5, and A6 is exactly an A5 folded in two, so I personally buy A4 stacks of paper, 500 sheets, and cut them in 4 parts with my paper trimmer and I get 2,000 planner refills for less than €6.

What % would you print the lines or dots etc on? How would you make a calendar? Do Etsy sellers give you that info

@@cassiareece4310 Hi, you won't get this kind of information from an Etsy shop owner who sells printable dot grid paper and calendars. But I keep my prices low, and I can design any printable you need for your planner

Yes A6 is an ISO paper size used internationally.

Thank you for the comparison of the two! Still trying to figure out my next size to try. Lol (P.S. An A6 paper is 1/2 of an A5, cut in half through the width (does that make sense?), and then rotated 90 degrees.)

I had no idea there’s so many variations in the A6 size! Why do they make it so confusing? Like these two in your video: the personal size (tall narrow pages) looks wider than the A6! But when you open it, the pages are narrow. Like what?! So when you order them online you have to double check the dimensions because a lot of sites will say A6 when they really mean Personal. And then there’s “true A6” and “personal wide”. Ugh what the heck so many terms with tiny differences 😂

I didn’t like personal size because the paper is too narrow also! I switched to pw because of it and enjoyed that size so much more. Now I’m in a6 and absolutely loooove this size!

I never thought I would be in a personal because I love A6 and pocket. I’m in a personal moterm now and I love it. I started using it because I feel in love with some printed inserts that don’t come in A6 size.

I am very interested in the a6, I like wider more than tan taller. I am trying to be more organized with my time but hate big planners and ones that already come with the date marked cause I waist pages.

I have a true a6 rings size planner because I write big as well, and a pocket rings was too narrow for my tastes. I knew I'd have the same problem the second time around with a personal rings instead of a wider b6 rings, so I did it right the first time and went for the b6 rings, and I love it! It's the perfect smaller and more compact than a5 size I was looking for, without the narrow inserts

Thank you for this video! Why do they make the sizes so confusing? There's a thousand different sub-sizes in the A6 size category all with tiny slight differences. WHY?!

Some brands may incorrectly identify their size as A6 or alter their measurements. But A6 is an actual standard paper size. It’s an ISO paper size and is literally 1/2 of A5 size.

CarpeDiem isn’t a true personal size cover. It’s wider so it fits wider inserts - like FCC. Might fit PW to but not sure

I love A6 but preparing the printable inserts is really a little bit burdensome.😓The accessories are also unavailable in many stationary shops. It seems that many users switch from A6 to personal size this year but I don’t know why🤔

This question isnt directed at me, but as I happen to have an a6 rings myself (the true kind, not the a6 asian planner size kind, that actually is really basically a personal size that will actually hold certain inserts of the asian a6 "personal" sized insert) I figured I could help out in answering your question. Just be sure to check the sizing before purchasing to make sure it's an asian a6 size, and not the true a6 rings size, a true a6 size insert will NOT fit inside a personal, or vice versa. The ring spacing on a true a6 is not far enough apart for the spacing you need for personal inserts, and a true a6 would be much too short to hold an insert as tall as a personal insert. I hope this helps!

I just watched a video on that question. So, the A6 planners if they are made in Asia, do not fit the A6 filler paper; personal filler paper works for them. But, if you have a true A6 planner (so any A6 planner not made in Asia) will fit the A6 filler paper. For some reason, the A6 size isn't the same in Asia as in the rest of the world. I have an A6 planner from Amazon and the A6 inserts do not work in it; for some reason, the planners have the binder clips for personal. So, now I buy the personal size filler paper for my A6 planner because it was made somewhere in Asia. The Mulberry A6 planner (mentioned in this video) is a true A6 and will fit the A6 filler paper.

it was nice hearing your thoughts on both sizes! I love your videos. they’re very practical and honest. you also have such an amazing vibe when you talk/explain things! I’m in a pocket at the moment for my EDC but was just in an A6 right before that and I really loved it, and before that, in a personal. A6 is really the sweet spot! I felt very hesitant to switch but really wanted to make my new pocket purchase work for awhile 😂 do you think you would ever try a Personal Wide? the extra inch on the width would make the writing experience better and your hand wouldn’t run off! or even B6 size? I think they’re similar in size

Hello! what binder are you using for your A6? Also, where do you get the paper refills for the personal binder? this gets confusing just because when you look for refills on amazon it lists A5 and A6 but not "personal" I currently have a "personal" binder I believe since the paper looks the same as your personal binder, but i am thinking of switching to A6 - the problem though is that most of the binder on amazon aren't true A6 sizes.

Hi! My current binder or cover is from Gillio Firenze. It’s true A6 size. That’s the confusing part unfortunately.. in Asia, they consider Personal size as A6. But here in the Western region for the world: personal and A6 are completely different sizes. On Amazon, it’s hard to find a true A6. Unless it’s Moterm brand, which you can find on Amazon or Aliexpress.

Would A6 inserts work in the LV MM agenda? I find the personal inserts small and looks like the LV agenda has a lot of unused space on its sides.

they can fit, only problem is you’ll have plenty of space on the top and bottom. I think people have been using FC Inserts for personal sized covers to have the wider feel :)

I am confident enough to say I will never go back to personal. As much as I love the mm agendas from LV, the A6 size is the perfect one for me.

It is "so hard" as I was first in Personal and then found A6. I think I like A6 better but have so many gorgeous covers for Personal. i think Personal is having a moment now. TOO MANY CHOICES!

Agreed! Although from someone who has tried both and loved each of them for what they were, finding FCC was the best, because it is truly the best of both worlds.
