How do you decide/locate/define the picture plane? (P.P.)

I'd define the picture plane as the plane of reference on which the perspective image is projected. The image resulting from the projection of the edges of the object from a spectator point unto the P.P. As to where to decide to place it, moving the picture plane doesn't affect what you will see but how large the image will appear. Moving it in front of the object results in a smaller image moving it behind the ibject results in a enlarged image. The images will be identical just scaled differently. Moving the spectator will alter 'what' you see. With that in mind I usually place the P.P on the most convenient edge in order to take advantage of that edge being a true height. You can always scale up the image afterwards. Hope that helps.

Thanks allot,@@thomassheppard5369! I really appreciate the explenation of exactly how the PP affects the image and how moving the perceiver and the PP changes the picture. I'm currently dabbling with programing a 3D software and I'm working on perspective drawing and it's getting quite interesting tho frustrating at some points (as programming usually does). So I appreciate this insight.
