Watching this made me realize how almost every series has consistent design features across characters, that might seem a bit weird at first. The way I see it, a Transformers should always be judged on the whole. Planet X nails two aspects; transformation and beast mode IDW nails one; the robot mode Seems a pretty easy decision to make to me.

Having handled MMC and Planet X figures, I get the feling MMC will have more articulation whilst Planet X will have chunkier joints. Kadmos is built like a god damn Unicron Trilogy toy. Also regrettably I'm everywhere. Yoy can never escape my idiocy.

Found a Legacy Jhaxus at a EBgames here in the Aussie lands and i have never had a figure that messes with my head as much as this guy. He is a goldish yellow color in daylight, however in certain lights like my bedroom make Jhaxus yellowish green and his face a sickly pale green. My bedroom uses a more orange colored light unlike outside in my kitchen that uses the newer white lights that come with newer light bulbs. This just messes with my head so much and I have never seen a figure have such a color change in certain light.

I loved how Deathsaurus asked Tarn to kill one of his DJD teammates in the comics to test Tarn’s loyalty to his men. I think one of the reasons the PlanetX Deathsaurus head looks strange is the white plastic that dominates the sculpt, while the MMC figure has a good amount of blue, gold and sliver

The size comparison is much appreciated. The other accessory for the MMC is to slot the sword on the side of his arms instead of in the back. I'm surprised you didn't give a separate review for each figure. This feels more rushed compared to your regular reviews. But I also can't think of what else you can add to each individual in a solo review.

Hey! There technically was one. You saw them compaired to each other, and to other figures in the masterpiece scale, like DS Blaster, and TE Optimus. Also is that what that's for? Cause it doesn't really fit my sword. Funny cause it's the exact opposite. That Took way longer than normal and had more than the normal amount of video in it with extra posing segments just to show off cool stances the figures can get into. This was the way I planned it from the begging, and while it's sure less profitable doing this as two separate reviews, I think it turned out great.

it depends on the continuity that writers want to use because you have g1 Japanese star saber who was the leader of the autobots in victory , who is known to be the most courageous and caring of the autobots autobots with a strong since of justice , who even adopted a human child after his parents were killed by deceptions . Then you have idw star saber, who is literary the shattered glass version of the original star saber, who has a more twisted version of justice and who punish anyone who disrupts his version of justice .

I'm generally not crazy about IDW's designs, but imo these two BOTH look really nice if you don't care too much about accuracy. If you do find accuracy important MMC is a clear winner, and it looks more up to modern standards in terms of its design. But yeah, I do love the huge wings on the Planet X one. As for the transformations, it feels like the 3P scene is getting progressively worse there even as the overall look of transformed products continues to improve. Every time I get just about any 3P product that isn't by Fanshobby I'm both really excited about getting a new bot and really dreading the transformation. I'm really excited about the upcoming X-Transbots one myself, but then I'm way more into the Japanese G1 than I am into IDW. If X-Transbots actually start releasing some of the stuff they've had planned that company's got a smashing line up for the remainder of 2022.

I'd say this is an Outlier for MMC, their Transformations tend to be fantastic. And what's wrong with the IDW designs? XTB is the one that you should be dreading, because they are famously one of the companies who don't do good transformations.

Seen the Victory cartoon (in the Transformers Japanese Collection DVD set containing Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory), read the Transformers Manga (physical print from Viz Media that I ordered off Amazon months ago, around the time I saw the Sonic 2 movie in theaters in April), read the IDW Collections 5 and 8 I got for free a year ago back in California, so yeah, quite the unique side of Transformers if you ask me.

I know that someone on reddit asked how [you/anyone] would describe the characters, so here're my thoughts: Star Saber: Ultimately a generic hero-type, outside of the comics where he's one of the few evil Autobots (we're not counting Shattered Glass for this "evil Autobot" category, since for this category there's Autobots that only joined to be on the winning side or to pursue their own selfish benefits, like they don't buy in to/don't care about the Autobot cause) Deathsaurus: Generic big bad, but the comics and manga do attempt to flesh him out as a Decepticon leader who is caring for his troops Holi: Annoying (Oh, and Jan is The same level as Holi, but I don't think anyone [else] cares about the human characters. Sure, that robot vehicle he gained made him somewhat useful, and bringing it to the school, where he's endangering his classmates in doing so because it'll attract the Decepticons' attention?) Micromasters: Nothing, and it applies to the other Autobots in Victory Victory Leo: Aggressive Dinoforce: Funny (particularly that one that I think turned into a Stegosaurus) Brestforce: Effective, but only two (Leozack & Hellbat) are interesting Combiners: Nothing, with only Liokaiser being the interesting one. Esmeral: The most obscure out of anything obscure. (She has a LOT of potential, I'd go for an Ascenticon pacifist, the one voice of reason, the one good person out of a faction that wants to kill Autobots and conquer the universe.) Lyzack: Yes, the BotCon comics did attempt to flesh her out as her own character, even if it falls into the trope of "wants to kill Autobots", like she wants to crawl out of her brother's shadow.

I've got two 3rd party bots, both combiners. One is the MMC Bruticus and the other is Moon Studios Raiden. I love the all in one aspect of the MMC. So much so that I am waiting for their Denfensor to come out. All that being said, I am curious as to your thoughts on Fans Toys? I was leaning hard into getting X-Transbots Commander Stacks, but then I saw the Fans Toys Margh and quickly canceled the Stacks.

I am not a fan of Fanstoys, their sculpts all tend to be uncanny, and their Engineering sub par. The Margh looks interesting, but I don't trust it to live up to the potential. The Commander Stack has a Beast of a Transformation but it's a good figure. Nice! Glad to hear you have the MMC Bruticus, I love that thing to death.

8:38 I know ir reminds me of something, I just can't wrap my head around it. The MMC robot mode looks awesome and way more cooler, the Planet X one looks boxy but has way cooler wings. The Planet X one definitely has the better transformation out of the two. The Planet X one has awesome and cooler beast mode with the cooler wings being a huge bonus point and the MMC one has a beast mode that reminds me of a chicken/bird kaiju from Ultraman. If you are looking for an IDW Starsaber Planet X makes the only one in town and it's pretty solid, though funnily enough it pairs best with the MMC in robot mode, and obviously the X in Beast Mode.

So, on the topic of what’s the best, will you eventually update your Optimus Prime collection with the MM 01 (Magnificent Mecha) Optimus Prime? The last time I mentioned this, you thought it was an upgrade kit for the MPM Optimus Prime, and I tried to show you otherwise, but I tried that using a link, and that automatically got my comment deleted by KZbin. So for clarification, if you haven’t already figured it out by now, MM stands for Magnificent Mecha, not Movie Masterpiece. MPM stands for Movie Masterpiece (I don’t know why). What you ended up looking at was a prototype upgrade kit for the Magnificent Mecha figure to give him some of the Cybertronian aesthetic. But back to discussion of the MM 01 itself, what I find pretty fun about this figure is that its transformation is very reminiscent of the Studio Series Bumblebee movie Optimus, so in terms of movie-based Optimus figures, this might be the best so far (a hell of lot easier than the ToyWorld one, that’s for sure).

Been wanting a Deathsaurus for awhile. Was planning on buying a Haslab but kept missing some really good deals. The MMC I see around and the price was ok but I got lucky on an Ismenios for $90 the other day n that price was an immediate purchase. Unfortunately tho I hadn't seen this review until now n I'm wondering if I made the right choice. I like DS but not enough to buy multiple especially when is an al out $200 fr MMC and $200+ for Haslab. Oh well. I guess the planet x will be the one. Can't argue with the price but it'll probably be in beast mode on the shelf

See ERptimus has no good mode to me and the Transformation on the Siege is better. The Altmode is OK on the ER but the gap in back is pretty heinous.

Yeah I meant Regular legends. And thank you so much. The Planet Xs Upgrade kit just makes it look more like the G1 Deathsaurus, so it would make the Robot mode less confused, but it wouldn't really fix the Dichotomy between the two modes.

I'm not really into Deathsaurus. Sure it's a cool name and Thew got a good Halloween review out of it, but it's from a corner of lore I know nothing about. I did read IDW, but he didn't make an impression there. I can't tell you what he did or why he was there. I think he was involved in some scheme involving the Scavengers? I also made what I thought was a wise financial decision that I regret in not backing HasLab Victory Saber, so there goes any interest in the character. Still, you review made me interested in the MMC figure. I guess I could always learn about him later. Actually, $200? Naw, I'm good.

I don't know that I'd call it a cool name. I'd more call it a silly bad, but fun one. And man you weren't kidding when you said you don't know him from the comics, because that's just flat out wrong. Deathsaurus was the only Decepticon General who cared about his troops, so he had them all desert so they wouldn't get sent to their deaths in the war. Tarn Tracked them down and offered to not kill them if they helped him kill Megatron, so the went to war with the crew of the lost light. He's only 180 on ShowZ.

I find it funny that this video popped up after the reveal of the haslab deathsaurus and fun fact the manga deathsaurus was actually a nice guy but his anime counter part was an absolute jerk and he didn't really participate in most of the battles and always scolded his minions for failing when his rival star saber , who was literary on par with him was usually the first into battle against his soldiers .

It's like both took all the source they could off 1 mode in IDW and made the alt work with what they had. This could be some blame on the comic slightly cheating having to actually exist. More importantly, MMC has the unenviable duty of being the obvious layup for the Continuum version (think of that fever dream what you will), and the less obvious foundations for their entirely off model Doubledealer (and presumably a Clouder for con season).
