Two things here that concerns me with the 79 series. You pay a big price for these old school 4WDs, then you need to spend another fortune on fixing the damn things and the other was always told by Toyota and Toyota owners, these are bullet proof and never have problems. Look I know, when you spend a small fortune they are great off road 4WD, but just can't justify the money it costs to get there.
@jarrod1687

I agree, spend 80k on a 4wd only to replace 70% of it...

Thank you for the video. My only constructive criticism would be for more close up shots when you are discussing the product. It is hard to see the details of the diff from where the camera was placed.

Gen Kanai no problem. This video was filmed a little while ago we have just been so busy and not had a chance to upload it. Will keep that in mind for future videos.

joey243win we just specialise mainly on the 70 & 200 Landcruisers as we own one of each so alot of the development is done on these cars.

Yep, we all now know that he did break this exact axle. All documented in a later video. Maybe Toyota do know something about engineering.

What pricing would it be to get this conversion done.
@PerthDieselPerformance
@PerthDieselPerformance 6 жыл бұрын
HOBOsGold just over $6500 drive in/drive out. We give all your old gear back so you can recoup some $$ selling the old housing and axles.

Standard Toyota axles are "Chrome Moly" i.e. AISI/SAE 4140 type steel. What else would you use for an axle? I'm sure Mr Toyota (or probably Mr Aisin) knows how to heat treat it correctly - that's the tricky bit.

Guido Wessels existing suspension fits fine. No issues with BP51's. The silver single cab in the corner on this video had BP51's and this kit fitted

What its going to do is take out the perfect weak point..much rather break an axle than differential

Should have dumped the leaves for coils while you were at it.
@denisvincent4410
@denisvincent4410 6 жыл бұрын
N Noddy is it better to have coils than leaf and is it costly
@gregh9762
@gregh9762 6 жыл бұрын
Any conversion is costly. Which one is better actually depends by usage. In this case (off road tourer spec) leaf is better since it can handle the weight and abuse. Obviously if you prefer comfort and willing to sacrifice load capacity, get a car with coil at the first place.

Jesse Nurse just over $6500 supplied and installed. We give you back your old diff housing and axles so you can sell then to offset some of the money spent as well

As someone with decades of motorsport engineering these obese diff carriers are rubbish. While the track differences is dumb from Toymota is a problem they seem not to cause any issues. A wider housing by all means, even floaters but 20kilos of extra unsprung weight is plain stupid! As is ofcourse the dumb huge rims and tyres that cause the grief. For bush bashing a 16" rim is better though will they fit a later model? Not on a wagon from 14 on. Those dumb mud tyres cause more grief, a decent AT tyre is all that is required. IF you cannot drive places with them simply dont driver there!! Meaning you will not kill the vehicle either The bushies from 60 years ago with their Landrovers worked out big lumpy tyres puncture about 3 times as often. And that was with 7 50x16s. Nothing has changed
