Just used my machine for the first time I can say this is the closest I’ve come to shop coffee using a pod machine. Other pod machines I’ve owned never came up to my expectations, and that includes Nespresso, but this one surpasses them. Totally agree with this review and throughly recommend this machine. 5 ⭐️’s

hi excellent video, thank you so much. Is it possible to make an expresso and then separately froth some milk without putting in a capsule to make a macciato
@PerthWAtch3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely, although there is a minimum amount you need to put in to allow the frothing attachment and steam wand to work on the milk… you would have to manually time this, and there would be quite a bit of wastage for a macchiato. One option is to use a metal jug to allow good timing - I might just try that! :)
@teep19473 жыл бұрын
@@PerthWAtch thx for the speedy reply, not sure I understand why I need a metal jug. I was thinking of just putting in a small amount of milk into glass jar, or are you saying just use a small metal jug to save waste. `How would I make the milk frothy as I assume the whisk part is a fitting made for the glass jar. Apologies if I am being dense
@PerthWAtch3 жыл бұрын
You need a metal jug to time milk frothing properly - like you see baristas do in cafes. You could use this machines default milk froth timing but that would require >150ml of milk which would be massive waste if you’re just making a macchiato.

Had to put a small amount of milk in then press the large cappuccino to get a hot coffee otherwise it’s lukewarm. After a while it does seem to catch up but if you follow these instructions expect a tepid cappuccino. The frothing system is so much better than the usual. No trying to remove baked on milk from the steamer. You can’t set the amount of coffee dispensed on the milk coffee side but you can take the top off the jug and add extra from the pod later.

Steamed milk is supposed to be at a certainly temperature range… 65-70 degrees. So actually a “really hot” coffee is generally a bad coffee. The way to make it hotter without making it bad is to add your own boiled water - that way you can make it to your preference. Oh the other hand if your just referring to black coffee, then knock yourself out - add as much hot water as you want.

Any thoughts on how this would compare with say the De'Longhi Magnifica, Bean to Cup Coffee Machine, ESAM 4200.S I currently grind my beans and just use a cafateire.... and Monsoon Malabar is my favourite tasting type coffee.... I have a friend married to an Italian who says stay away from pod machines and she recommends the DeLonghi above... However I reckon that that pod machine would be adequate for me as Im not that particular about my coffee.. ....in fact i have only just moved away from instant coffee, used to buy Nescafe Costa Rica.... ...in light of that, any thoughts on whether this pod machine would do, I am looking for speed.... the De'Longhi looks more fiddly... ..and im not sure im going to really notice the difference...
@PerthWAtch4 жыл бұрын
Hi Julie - I don't have any direct experience with the DeLonghi ESAM 4200 model but based on experience I would expect that a machine which grinds beans on the spot should certainly produce a better espresso than a capsule machine. It's all well and good to say "stay away from pod machines" but that is making some gross assumptions that you're most interested in espresso quality regardless of the effort, maintenance, and time it would take. I think if espresso quality is the priority then you would get a separate quality grinder, and a good manual machine. I used to do that with a Sunbeam EM6910 but got tired of the time it took to do things, and the cleaning involved. Now, back to the DeLonghi you pointed out... I think the questions I would have are about maintenance (what do you have to do to keep it clean and running well? are you prepared to do that?) and also the performance of the mild steamer - that type doesn't tend to do it very well, so if milk result is important to you, that may make or break it. This Lavazza I feel is very low maintenance, very quick and quiet, and also gives a much better espresso than any Nespresso pod I've tasted, whilst also giving very fair steamed milk result. Hope that helps!

Well presented review. This replaces the fantasia by Lavazza which is no longer available. Problem 1.) What happens if you don't like drinking out of the glass mug provided? - I don't! Problem 2.) From the above - you have to pour the whole lot into your favorite cup thus losing the effect and some of the composition of the made coffee. Problem 3.) If that seems a pernickity critic, what happens when you have friend/ friends round for coffee? You have to do the above in problem 2 - there is no choice! - what a lot of faffing about! Problem4.) Okay - you accept all that, but hey, one day you break your glass mug! It happens! and its not like you can just go and buy another down the Hardware store/supermarket/shop - there is just one provider - Lavazza! and that would be at the online company at their pre-determined cost.- like it or lump it I have been on UK Lavazza website and they are 15 GBP guys!!!! Problems solved my end - I will not be buying into this machine, sticking to my old Fantasia and then looking at another alternative when it finally expires.

1. You can find an alternative cup or mug that can sit under the frothing device - it has to be large enough to accomodate the milk spinning around however. 2. See 1. 3. You can either get more of the glass mugs, or see 1. 4. See 1. :)

Sheer practicality would do away with presentation - the taste doesn't change in a significant way after pouring it into another cup. If you're concerned about presentation... well you can buy extra Lavazza mugs for $20 each. Why do you think having more of those would not be "hugely practical"? In any case, better yet use a manual machine if you want better presentation!

Reading other reviews on other sites - lot of problems with Lavazza a modo mio machines. I have used numerous models for over 25 years…they have a short life span. My last machine was 15 months old leaking & coffee dripping out very slow….I have always Descaled same problem. I rang Lavazza Customer Service in Melbourne, told the woman my problem. She said All Lavazza Coffee Machines are not repairable - & to throw away….in Land Fill. I noticed each Model has been made by different Companies over the years. Simplex was made by Saeco…then from memory Philips made the Machines, so did Electrolux. I hate throwing away Products that can’t be ‘recycled’. The Coffee is wonderful but be prepared to spend money - the machines are not built to last…

To get just coffee out without milk froth, put a cup under the outlet but don’t use the black milk frothing extension

Thanks for sharing. But what do you mean by “average”? If you mean manual steam wands, well it’s definitely no comparison, not sure any auto can compare.
