The Chaglla project involves the construction and operation of a hydroelectric plant on the Huallaga River in Huanuco region of Peru. The project is developed by Empresa de Generacion Huallaga, a firm controlled by Odebrecht. The company estimates that the hydroelectric plant Chaglla generate an annual average of 2.749GWh that will be injected into the network of the national grid through a 220 kV transmission line.
Peru has a hydropower potential of 69,000 megawatts (MW), equivalent to 69 central Mantaro. However, only 4% advantage because of the public policy of encouraging other sources of electricity generation.
