■ PERU, CUSCO: After taking a bus up to a more economical residential neighborhood than downtown Cusco, it was time to check out Cyrus' home. Actually it isn't his home, but belongs to his sister who also lives there with her family.
The house had 5 rooms, not counting the little studio detached house where Cyrus sits and paints. Real estate prices in Cusco are absolutely unreal compared to what people earn and I was shocked to hear that even a house in this part of Cusco can cost tens of thousands of dollars!

I've been following Harald for quite a while now, but this video has particularly touched me on so many levels! As a Peruvian who lives a block away from a country club and had the privilege to live a very-comfortable life, this video makes me realize the chance that some of us have. The indifference in my country is a sad reality and hopefully the next generations will have a more inclusive mentality. Let's help each other out! Ciro seems to be a great human and his laugh is quite contagious. Looking forward to buy one of his paintings!

However, your wonderfully cheerful attitude towards life and adventure has drawn me in, and now I watch videos of yours that have nothing to do with a place I’d like to travel to in the future!! You do a great job. I see I’m only one of so so many people that think exactly the same ....!! As a Peruvian i'll shed some light on the economics part: Perú is the most stable economy and fastest growing of all of South America for the past 20 years, i went to Cusco 14 years ago and the land was 10 times cheaper, at least. The mountains had no houses, etc. But now that the country has grown, everything is more expensive and specially in Cusco there isn't a lot of room to keep growing the city and if you think about it, living 30 min from the city center is actually a luxury. As i said before This neighborhoods didn't exist 15 years ago, in a developing country that's a lot of time, 15 years from now they will be fully fledged middle class houses. Really big houses at that, with a perfect view of the city and very close to the center. Now, 30 years ago, ppl like Cirio and his family would be living in mud brick houses, tiny, and with no hope of improving their lives, its a massive contrast in a span of 30 years from the 1990s to now. At least in those few countries that have had decades of sustained and sustainable (not debt fueled) economic growth. Cirio has lived in "both Peru's" he knows, and i'm happy he's taking advantage of the new opportunities our society is finally able to offer all our countrymen and woman.
