Fun fact: 80% of Peru's impressive biodiversity is in the tropical rainforest. Most know that but what is unique is that 80% of the diversity in Peru's rainforest areas occur in the cloud forest transition from the Andes toward the Amazon basin. The same elevation change that allows farmers to grow such a wide range of crops has also allowed incredible complexity in the natural food web over an incredible length of time.

How to forget when South Park dedicated a special of 2 episodes to this country in "PANDEMIC" and "PANDEMIC 2 The Startling" supposedly the Peruvian culture is invading the United States with its guinea pigs and its music, a fact in Latin America the episodes they called them "PERUDEMIC" or "PERUDEMIA" .. Mostly because of the Incan and pre-Incan civilizations which began in Peru at least 2000 to 3000 years ago and spread to the rest of South America along the Andes mountains. Nevertheless, since half of Peru is Lima, the Challa aka the coastal humid desert, which includes Lima, makes more than half of Peru, and it's not at all diverse. Thus, the City State of the Peru is just as interesting as the City State of the Vatican in terms of physical geography if you live there (with more than 50% statistical confidence).

@@veronicajulianadelvalle284 Randomly pick a peruvian, if the procedure follows discrete uniform distribution (everyone gets equal opportunity of being picked), then there is more than 0.5 chance that this person is a challa person, consider the road condition it's not going to be easy for this random challa person to visit the Andes frequently. The vast majority of Peruvian doesn't even have any chance to have a weekend trip to the Andes every week. For the vast majority, the challenge to visit the quechua and the yungas is just as big as the challenge of an average American to visit the quechua and the yungas. So in that sense yes the coastal desert does represent el Peru. The Andes is not a backyard that common Peruvian can go without hesitation, maybe in the future you'll reach that, but at least for the current condition no, it's still the City State de el Peru. Nevertheless if you rendomly pick a llama, there's more than half chance this llama is from the Andes. However, llamas don't have passport and for them there's no difference between Peru and Bolivia, and we care about humans not llamas. Btw if you pronounce "llama" as "lama" there's a big chance that you don't live an Andes life.

I buy grapes at the supermarket that were grown in Peru. They are pretty good which is strange since Peru does not have a Mediterranean climate. My guess is they found a micro climate that matches the Mediterranean climate.
@eltanquedecasma11842 жыл бұрын
Peru does have lots of climates similar to the Mediterranean. Especially ‘Ica’. Peru produces tons of grapes as well as olives. In fact the national alcoholic beverage is pisco , which is made from grapes.
@4rootof2isirrational2 жыл бұрын
Ya pisco is to Peru what wine is to Bordeaux in France. It is traditionally a medieval process of distillation brought over from Europe. The wine in Peru is terrible bit the Pisco is better than most spirits anywhere. Because of Peru's wet desert coast, meaning they have heavy fog with moisture which is most likely similar to traditional growing conditions- not unlike the coastal wine regions of California that get there moisture from the clouds also. Of course there is irrigation involved- hence the coastal river valleys the run all along the coast coming out of the Andes where water is usually quit abundant.
