With Harrow, you are going to be confused regardless of which format you go with. I might go with the audio. It's the same narrator, so you will be used to hearing her do a lot of the voices, and that could make keeping the characters straight easier.

I couldn’t finish The Bone Shard Emperor and I am so bummed about it. I loved book one and gave book 2 such a solid go, but I finally gave it up 😕😕. It’s hard because I too couldn’t really nail down why I wasn’t enjoying it.

I really liked The Bone Shard Daughter but halfway through the Bone Shard Emperor I got very frustrated for all the reasons you just mentioned and the more I kept reading it the less I liked it. Which is sad. There's so many good ideas but I just couldn't enjoy it

I live in Galveston county Texas Where are you in Texas?? I grew up in Austin as a child. Mom taught at U. T. I moved back here in 1983. Raised my kids and buried their daddy in 1994. Oil Refinery accident. I’m a granny to one adult gal who received her Bachelor’s Degree and then her masters Degree both from Rice University last Spring. So proud!!😊 so just a nice normal family.
