My heart is singing! You are reading my favorite genre/series urban fantasy! Mercy Thompson is fantastic. Don’t worry about the werewolf tropes…Mercy can handle all of them! 😉 I haven’t read much of the Ilona Andrews series you are reading. However, her Rachel Morgan series is amazing! I just finished (and enjoyed) The Hacienda last night. I agree with your review of this book. I look forward to reading more by this author. Ordinary Monsters sounds intriguing. I think I definitely want to listening to this chunky book. Thank you for all the great info, especially the trigger warnings. Those are very important to me. Happy Halloween!

Loved burn for me. Husband and wife writing team ilona Andrew's can do no wrong. I was nervous for this series when it came out because of cover and the genre they put it in. And up next another favorite author Patricia Briggs. I have been following her since their fantasy days. Dragon bones has such and important place in my heart. Both authors excel and their relationships and all of their secondary characters are so well done.

I feel conflicted by Slaying Vampires, if you look past the first layer the representation of women, mental health and black people is very problematic .. I wonder of Hendrix' other works are like this too or if it's a one off

I decided to listen to Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires after watching your vlog, and I was not disappointed. I didn't find it too scary, but at times - very disgusting (so yes, after that I picked up a nice chick-lit), and I liked the ending in a sense that there are no winners when you go fighting with monsters. In past decades there has been lots of romanticized vampires (not that I mind), and we tend to forget about the brutal kind. So yeah, thanks for recommending this one!
