I won two or three judo matches with that choke (okuri-eri-jime?). I have to say that this is a very instructive channel, and I just love that you are comparing with other arts and goes through the history.

Know if it’s still legal in judo?
@henrikg13883 жыл бұрын
@@prandz420 Yes, all chokes are legal in Judo, but not standing up.
@prandz4203 жыл бұрын
Henrik G my understanding was that you could get fouled if you go for a guillotine type choke as they treat it as a neck crank. Even though there are certain pins in judo which are literally neck cranks
@henrikg13883 жыл бұрын
@@prandz420 It's a grey area what a neck crank is. A standing guillotine is illegal because it's standing, though. A guillotine on the ground is certainly a legal choke. AFAIK D'arce, Anaconda, Peruvian necktie and especially arm triangle should all be legal, but not very common due to the Gi and the limited time on the ground.

Trying my best to come up with solutions against a big wrestler dude at my club. I get to the sprawl head and arm position a lot with him and can never finish an arm in guillotine. Going to attempt this for next few rounds, main issue I can see is he’s going to try and grab the single leg soon as I step near him. If that makes sense

Fduuuuuude. I was just showng one of my partners the same thing. Peruvian necktie can be turnd , if opponent gets out,into a darce..

at 14:12 coach why do you not like that grip? It feels very natural to me...
@TeachMeGrappling4 ай бұрын
You can use it but it’s just a proven weaker grip. If you want your hands to be the strongest and tightest… I recommend the palm to palm gable grip.

Here is a video of a competition round in our gyms competition class where I managed to pull off a darce Peruvian. I'm a big fan of it because I can apply a lot of downwards pressure on the head whilst I bring the first leg over making it very difficult for them to see coming. kzbin.infoUFaQdwH3UOI

Is the Peruvian good off a sprawl defense? I.e. for a non-grappler, would this be a good go-to when someone tries a take-down and I sprawl to defend?
@TeachMeGrappling4 жыл бұрын
It’s great if you’re good at it! If you are a non-grappler... it’s not a good choice unless you get it amazing. Become a grappler and then you can increase your odds! 🤙

Would the Judo choke really not work with a rashguard? I feel like I may have sensed sarcasm, but you are such a cold blooded assassin in the training room it didn't come through clearly. (Not gonna try it on people at the gym btw)
@TeachMeGrappling4 жыл бұрын
The rashguard stretches... it’s possible to choke them with it but because it stretches and it could rip, I meant it wouldn’t work on my student who is a pretty solid grappler. When it comes to clothing you really want something that has no give. It is possible. 🤙
