Wonderful discussion on the identity and future of Pakistan. I loved the comparison to India. " India with far greater diversity could nevertheless succeed in evolving a stable political dispensation" "Religion alone cannot cement disparate peoples" Well said! This is worth debating. Even European countries are struggling to form a union but India has managed to do that in spite of different languages, religions and customs. India is unique in this respect, no other country on the planet has managed to do that. Can you quote another country with so many languages, religions and customs? North India and South India are vastly different from one another yet it is one country.

Both East Bengal and Balochistan joined Pakistan on the condition that they'll be autonomous regions in Pakistan. This was reneged by Pakistan after they merged into Pakistan. Abdul Gafar Khan of KPK opposed creation of Pakistan till the very last moment. Pakistan was created by Gujaratis like Jinnah and nawabs of UP, MP, Bihar, Bengal. The regions that became Pakistan had very little say in its creation. This is why Pakistan closed its border to Muslim refugees from India in 1950. The Muslims of West Pakistan never accepted the Muslims from India and East Bengal as one of them.

The discussion shows the true nature of oppression of Baluchistan by the Pak Army. Instead of taking care of such injustice Pakistanis constantly harp on the India's Kashmir, where at least there is no forced disappearances; elections are regularly held and Kashmiri politicians rule the state. Pakistanis hope that by that they can get Kashmir. That of course is not possible but by neglecting and oppressing Baluchistan they will loose that important mineral rich state to China.

Pakistan does not see Balochistan, Azad kashmir or gilgit baltistan as part of its own, rather a piece of land which has to be extracted of its resources just like in case of East Pakistan

Pakistan is treating with Baluchistan as did for East Pakistan and hence the country Bangladesh was born.You can not make fool and suppress exploit the mass all the while.

I add some facts you not said, prhaps not wrote. 1, Before annexation Balochistan's Assembly, House of Lords and House of Commons decided unanimously for Independence in December 1947 and January 1948 at Dhadder, summer head quarter. 2, Balochistan is being ruled by Islamabad & Rawalpindi direct or through their proxies through out last 75 years, except 9 months of NAP govenment after fall of Dacca, and BNA government about 18 month after crash of General Zeya u Haqe hollicopter . 3, If State stops supporting Sardars, there will be no Sardari system at all. 4, According to Respected Qaessar Bengali's book, A Cry for Justice, from 1956 to 2o14, about 6.79 trillions rupees of Balochistan shares spent on other Provinces. 5,For we Baloch there is no Constitution and law, very evident from kidnapping, killing in last 23 years, and taking by force Sandak,Recodik gold copper mines and Gowader Port.You see here Constitution & 18th ammendment had not worked. 6, When there's some thing related to Baloch and Balochistan, state institutions like Bureaucracy, both military and civilian, Courts, Assembly and main stream's parties are on same page against us, not from today but last 75 years. 7,From Gwader revenue China gets about 91% Central Govt. 9% Balochistan has 0 share. IT is given to China for 40 years.
