I think it had potential but it was wayyy, way undercooked. Released in awful condition and never improved much. The animations can rival today's games.

Many issues aside, it's a great game on the pitch and the lighting is amazing. PES 2008 and 2010 PS3 are far worse. Far far worse than this.

I remember the hard disappointed of this after PES 2013. It just felt so hollow. It reminds me of Spiderman 3, the Tobey Maguire one. You try and convince yourself it's not that bad, surely. It had a some positives, surely those are enough to overcome the bad. Then in time you realise, no, it's just bad. PES 2014 (non PS2) is bad. Spiderman 3 is bad.

That is when everything went downhill. PES 2013 was amazing, it sold about 7.000.000 copies, it was great game. PES 2014 sold 2 times less. And every single PES after that was absolute garbage. They tried to make realistic game but by doing that they took away all fun PES had, which eventually led to francize bankruptcy, and nowadays it is just another free to play garbage.

Sorry, what? PES 2015 was absolutely amazing on ps3/Xbox 360. The games made with the Fox engine needed some finetuning but it was absolutely mint on those old consoles. They absolutely used the capabilities of the ps3 to the max which made the loading slow sometimes, but on the other hand it still holds up against newer football games on new consoles.

It wasnt that bad, but it was a victim of transition to a newer generation and more advanced engine. It was underdeveloped, most of players didnt even have real faces and the ones who had didnt look good. stadiums were very few, graphics were really bad, no rain, pitch looked awful especially in night matches. but gameplay wasnt that bad. people didnt like the change because 2014 took direction into a slower paced approach, but people liked PES 2013 fast arcade style. it was also overshadowed by Prime FIFA, it had no chance against 14, which was arguably the best version FIFA ever been

I think this game got done dirty by the crunch of the yearly release schedule. It was very ambitious and took advantage of its first proper physics engine to introduce unique elements such as shifting the players' weight using the second analog stick. You could finally leave defenders in the dust properly if you managed your momentum right. But it was also completely unbaked, sluggish and the finishing felt empty. This caused such a huge backlash from the community that imo the course correction that followed with PES2015 onwards robbed us of their true intended vision.

I like 2008, but that would be the worst for me (PS3 ver.). You really need to try it, as it's probably around your FIFA days. As for Patrick Vieira, it's a Brazilian one. The Frenchman retired around 2012

At the time, I had the same PC for 7/8 years, PES 2013 ran flawlessly but 2014 was pretty much unplayable; I got a little upset, until I tried it on a friend's PS3... Oh boy, how they've changed it! I just installed PESedit Patch 2013 and kept playing. For me, this games feel "robotic" and unnatural to play nowadays.

The ‘next gen’ version of PES2008 was the low point for me. As a deluded fanboy was super hyped for a PES game on the new PS3 and it sucked so bad. Konami never really recovered from that until 2012/2013 in terms of quality, and FIFA just dominated from 2008 onwards.

After I played PES 2013(on PC), it blew my mind. It was so well done that you could decide to play possession based or counter. I remember forcing my opponents back with possession based Barcelona, false 9, hugging sidelines and everything. The goals were so satisfying and I was a guru. And I was like PES 2014 would be even better. And Konami said NO. PES 2014 was so bad especially on PC, love pes but 14 meant nothing to me. It was like PES 2011 without any licensing.

I remember went from PES 2013 to PES 2014. The transition is really weird. It's like PES on crack. Idk how to describe it but the feel, atmosphere is just way too different than the previous one. Thank god the 2015 went back to the way it was in 2013.

This is the only PES game I completely skipped and turned to FIFA 14 that year. I played 1 game of it with a friend on PS3 and hated it. Inputs were laggy and unresponsive, modes were barebones, it was worse in every way to previous installments except its new engine that showed potential. It was pretty much a tech demo of what was to come. The PS2 version on the other hand, utter brilliance.

Unfortunately I have to agree that this is one of the weakest PES games ever. Lack of content as you said, the horrendous face scans, and a general lack of polish. Granted 2015 was actually a really good game.

I played most of Pes games from 5-17,i did not play 09(overshadowed by my loving Pes 10), 12(i couldn't find it and overshadowed by 11 and 13) and 15(laggy because of my pc), every other one i played at least for 10 min and 1 match. I enjoyed all of them, i will admit even 08 was ok for me. But 14 is terrible, one of 2 Pes games i will hate(other one is eFootball). Faces are terrible, content and game modes are lacking, menu is simplistic, edit mode is killed, gameplay is crap and it's lagging even tho my PC runs 2013 great.

Absolutely not. My friends and I played every single PES/ISS from Super Nintendo days to this new free to play garbage. The only PES we play nowadays is 2013. It had that arcade fun from PES 5/6 with better graphics/animations/psychics.
