Did you throw a small generator with hydraulic pump on the back to power the crane when the truck is not attached to the trailer. I assume you drive the crane with hydraulic connection from the truck but is this some sort of independent power unit. Looks like a small engine from a generator.

Frequently Asked Questions: 1.Can you build this on a stretch out trailer? Ans: You could but it would need to be on a specially designed trailer which would cost a fortune! To try and fit one to a standard centre spine trombone trailer would be trouble, as in the torsion created by the crane when at max load is very high and I think the trailer would break the neck and also auxiliary stabilisers would not be effective! 2. The distance between the primary stabiliser and the auxiliary stabiliser looks very close, would it not make loading more difficult? Ans: The distance is greater than on a tractor unit and very similar to a rigid vehicle, it just looks odd because you have the 3 axles and overhang behind it! 3. Why not just put it on a tractor unit? Ans: Firstly it would not fit so you would have to stretch the unit making it to long enough to except the crane and trailer correctly ( not having the fifth wheel 3 feet behind the rear axle), Secondly, gross vehicle weight and axle weight, a tractor unit with this type of crane on will weigh in excess of 22/23 tons with a front axle absolutely on the limit, it would drive like a pig as a solo unit and would only have a 3 ton pin load capacity... Arh you say well how about a 8x4 tractor unit?? well even heavier but better on the axle weights but still no good, because any tractor unit in C&U can only gross out at 26 tons. General rules are 26 ton max tractor unit imposed on 3 axles or 4/5 axles and 16.5 metres long every thing else comes under Special types general order ( STGO) Okay we will run on STGO..... Not so easy because STGO only works on the product not the kit ( a non indivisible load that is to heavy to travel by a vehicle under construction and use. So that means loads over 26 ton.... which your crane can not lift and if it did would send you into the 60 ton bracket which would not be correct and your tractor unit would be way over weight plus an 8x4 tractor used in STGO would have a 20 ton pin load rating not 6 ton ( the same as an urban tractor)! But I have seen them on the road!.........Yes you have but what you have seen is a registered Draw-bar prime mover with a fifth wheel slung on the back that has been taxed special types, if you look they will be fitted with a draw-bar hitch as well.... All very well until you run over Ms Jones with little Rooney, Keegan and Chelsea in the back of the family saloon sending them to meet the Almighty, your insurance will be worth tuppence and you won't be showering alone for a while! My way is the only way to legally lift and carry the max weight! Food for thought. Cheers Patrick Allen

is there a trailer like this available in the usa?
@patrickallen80605 жыл бұрын
I am not sure John but there are Pesci Dealers in the USA or they might go under the brand name Copma... I can ship this product to the United States into the asking price of £165,000 if you feel you could find a use for it! All the best Patrick

For some reason lorry mounted cranes are very rare in the USA. I know a chap working for Ingersoll Rand in Texas. He said in 10 years he has never seen a HIAB sale crane. They are really common in the UK.
