This just reminds me what a sweetheart Equius is. His obedience thing/the STRENGTH thing got played up so much as a joke that it's sort of all he gets remembered for, and we also don't see him have many conversations. But we know because of his relationship with Nepeta - and now we know seeing him talk to Reader for so long - that despite his overwhelming STRENGTH he has poise and vulnerability. His reaction of "I would never kill you," offering f or Reader to come in and take a seat almost immediately, Aurthoror welcoming too. We've seen the other trolls give Reader a lot more pushback but Equius is so POLITE. I love him. Nepeta's route will have a meowrails reunion or there will be blood

I'll be honest I never did like Equius' schtick of "always be obedient to the hemospectrum" and his command/be commanded thing. But looking at it now it seems like he did so to try and forge an identity for himself, and someone questioning the hemospectrum is questioning him as a person. That hit me a bit, and hopefully this route helps him get a new perspective on this. Also these kids better have a happy ending after all this. I'm saying they better not all die due to doomed timeline shit. They better live or I'm rioting. (Probably too much to hope for an "everyone lives" timeline but eh, I can dream.)

Him desiring to be commanded/command others is playing true to his character though. I speculate that this is a theme with void players, and "desiring something to fill it", kind of like black holes and the symbol on their shirt. Also, Equius is on a weird rank in society. Typically people of his blood color would be commanded by those of Gamzee's, and would desire to command all those underneath him. So since he's not at the top, but very far from the bottom, he needs that structure to validate his worldview.
