Two years ago my vet recommended I euthanise my dog because of kidney disease. I took him home and only fed him home cooked meals (no kibble, no processed treats). He is now 16, and healthy and living his best life 🙏

Full resonance with the message of this spiritual master ! Some days ago I had a pet that was put asleep as I followed the advise of the veterinary. According to my deep intuition it didn't feel right but still I followed the advise of the veterinary. I have had a lot of animals that were put into sleep when they were already in a terminal state because we feel and veterinary confirms "don't let your animal suffer more". But that is not the way. What the master clarifies here is so truthful and so valuable for our spiritual growth. I am so grateful to have come across this deepening message into the mystery of life. His first point is void of all context of the fact that this idea of putting things out of their misery is applied to human beings as well. Many humans who are suffering from excruciatingly painful life ending illness opt for assisted suicide. Even more commonly people will opt to not be kept alive through life support and be “put out of their misery” and I think it is through this projection that people make this decision. We understand that some humans, a great deal of humans would not want to continue to live and death is basically guaranteed and we assume that these other beings maybe not as conscious as us may feel The same way.When the aforementioned human was going through a tough time and wished to die but didn’t and was grateful they weren’t on deaths door. Which is also something else to keep in mind. He also says that you don’t know that - dog wants to die so you shouldn’t act on it but the reverse claim can be made, that the dog wants to die and it is suffering and you as the more conscious being had the power to make that happen and choose not to. How would you know ? Your not in the animals soul to know. Another contradiction noted is that one’s cause of death can not both be karmically predetermined while also being able to be interfered with by human beings. Other things deaths are either within our control or not. Take that girl had she not chosen to take the yogi’s advice the dog would have died whatever day she choose to bring it to the vet and not painfully drowning with water in its lungs. The only thing that made that possible was her decision. I also just fundamentally disagree with his outlook on destiny it takes away the agency and responsibility of people have to live their lives to the fullest. Let’s just say I’m overweight and I eat McDonald’s every SINGLE day for like 15 years and then I one day get a heart attack and die. You could say that it was my “destiny” to have that heart attack but it’s not …. I very well could have taken measures to not move on to the next life in that way by like eating healthier or exercising and choking it all up to “fate” to me is just crazy. And please tell me that my ears have deceived me please tell me he did not say that killing your dog is the same as killing a person because they both have 5 senses.mind you he also says that you should never kill and he makes this as a blanketed prescriptive statement. No context it’s always wrong your always better off not killing. Not for food , not to save your own life , Not to end it’s suffering. Never do it. Don’t get me wrong I myself have implemented the wisdom and teachings of Buddhism and Hinduism into my life. The ideas of non attachment, compassion , harm reduction, and embracing the present moment are all things I continue to practice and I have teachers like oshu and sadhguru ji to thank for that. However they like us are human and the ideas and principles they teach are open to critique I still appreciate the intent behind this message and just wanted to give my thoughts Spreading love to all on this page and to the yogi in this video 🙏🏼❤️

Agree with lord you are saying. Like perhaps it is the animal’s destiny and Karma that they are fortunate to be with a human who waits for all the signs that the animal is beyond it’s limit of enduring suffering….and because they are going to die anyway …why not help them in the process? Humans can take hardcore medications for pain and give feedback…animals can’t other than observation…so they might not be getting the compassionate care of end of life! Then there is also the issue dying in peace with all your loved one’s around in prayer asking the angels to assist the transition at the time of Euthanasia. The suffering of the dog that drowned up to and at that time seems like a negative Karma the guardian imposed when the guardian had that choice to avoid such tragedy. That dog went through way more trauma for himself …and for others that love them. Also giving proper care for an animal when the human guardian might not have the means as far as time, energy and money is another factor. I feel perhaps it is the dog’s of cat’s Karma that they are with someone who’s aware enough and waits and watches and prays for the right time to assist their transition….to spare them. Sooo Perhaps it’s the animals Karma NOT to suffer with the aid of their guardian !!

that's a tough one, my cat got cancer of the mouth and did everything I could to try and fight it but it just kept spreading and he was 16 yrs old and I literally watched him suffer terribly so I put him down and do not feel guilty in any way shape or form, that cancer was evil and no way was I going to just sit there and watch it eat my kitty alive at 16 yrs old so to me it truly all depends on how dire the situation is

same. very sorry to hear of your cat’s passing. my 16 and a half year old girl (dog) who i loved more than than anything passed yesterday. she was late stage kidney disease and wasn’t able to eat for more than a week at a time of a few occasions. gradual starvation, distressing fecal and urinary incontinence, daily pills and needles, vomiting several times a day, experiencing neurological issues from malnutrition and losing her ability to take the walks that were the last thing that she had left that she really enjoyed. i held her as she went peacefully, assisted by a veterinarian and she didn’t have to go through the remainder of her organ failure and experience the very worst of it. her sister passed 3 months prior after she had a heart attack in bed due to a mass of cancer pushing against her heart. it was only a matter of time before she would have subsequent coronary episodes, the first of which was a terrible experience for her. she was also in a ton of arthritic pain and losing her ability to walk. i stroked her face as i sang her lullaby to her, and we said farewell before she suffered any further the ravages of cancer which was almost certainly metastasizing by that point. i loved them both more than anything ever and it took every bit of that love to muster the strength to give them peaceful, graceful farewells and spare them continued, ever worsening suffering. i fail to see how this was an injustice.

Nonsense! Do you think we just put our pets down at the first sign of illness? I nursed my dog through her illness for 5 years before it became too much for her. My poor, sweet baby could not function in her condition. She was struggling to urinate and only drops of blood would come out. She was miserable and I hope if I ever get into that condition, somebody will love me enough to get me the relief I need...and keep a print of my paw for honor and remembrance.

i’m with you guys, in the last 4 months i said farewell to my 2 girls, one of them just yesterday. they were my very heart for 16 years and were my first priority at all times. i don’t work and was able to spend all of my time caretaking. i spent thousands in supportive care and nursed each of them through organ failure and crippling arthritis until it was clear that they had only certain suffering remaining. it took every bit of love i have for them to say farewell and spare them the worst of it and i refuse to believe that this was a mistake and i resent the intention to have me do so. i’m sorry for your loss and stand in solidarity with you for the compassion and strength it took for you to say farewell when it was time.

My dog had another seizure,this time he had a stroke with it.he couldn't drink,eat or move.his head was tilted to the side .he would pee on himself and cry.nothing he did but lay,I turned him ,cleaned him,syringe food and water for 3 weeks,no change! I had him put down,it's killing me I cry,scream I want him back! Only his life was useless! So would you call that wron

We were just told two weeks ago to euthanize our cat but she has made progress since I started taking her to the vet. She quit vomiting and has solid bowel movements and eating on her own. I originally took her to vet because she had stopped eating. I changed her food and she has improved drastically. Still has some underlying issues but I have had her an extra 2 weeks with no signs of deterioration. She's even put on weight. Go with your gut...you know your animal best❤❤❤

This is not always possible, certain disease provoke horrible death like CHF, the animal gasps for air, it is an horrible and traumatic type of death, there is no love or compassion on death that can deal and calm an animal in this moment.

I believe that if you have a swimming pool and you have family and loved ones swimming in it, then it seems like it is part of your darmic duties to keep them safe, even if it means killing many times more smaller organisms. It's best to kill them before they multiply and create more life that would be senseless killing if you could prevent those lifeforms from growing to begin with. In the Gita Arjuna was tasked with having to kill those who were beloved to him throughout his life, but Krishna explains that this is indeed his darmic duty. Krishna went on to explain that when one fulfills his or her karmic duties without giving thought to the outcome that this is the way to bring an end to the inflow of Karma.

This is why I am not for not adopting from pet stores… I view it as a rescue… not adopting is not a solution as the animals will suffer in small cages. I think it all depends on your motivation, Any action motivated by love and care cannot be wrong. We often feel guilt and sorrow as part of the grieving process after loosing a much loved pet whether by euthanasia or by any other passing. we still worry we could have done something differently. Don't be so harsh on yourself, we tend to look on death as 'bad' when really its not, its just a natural part of life. I lost my beloved dog 8 months ago, he was in so much pain and it was the right thing to do at the time to have him put to sleep, death is only the end of the physical vehicle, not the end of the true essence of spirit. I might add in India, Egypt, Bulgaria, Cypress and many other countries dogs and cats as well as other animals are not treated well and many have miserable lives, uncared for and living on the streets, subject to starvation, cruelty, and diseases, which is worse really. In countries where euthanasia and spaying rarely happens many animals are left to awful fates. to die in horrible conditions. Have compassion for yourself that you only did what seemed best for your dog or cat at the time to avoid unnecessary suffering. Be motivated by love and compassion for yourself and all beings, that seems to me to be the best guiding light. Love to All. 🙏❤

Please Note : You can be prosecuted in UK if found leaving an animal to suffer and die in pain under the law. the RSPCA would remove the animal from your care and take it to a vet for proper treatment and euthanasia if necessary, so the 'karma' for leaving an animal to suffer unnecessarily rather than euthanise where required could be a hefty fine or prison sentence.

🌈 Yes, many successful people do die suddenly by heart attack. Wealth and comfortable environment cannot help to lessen or avoid death eventually. Let lives take its own course in due time is a much better choice if we are willing to listen to this advice. Learning the process of dying through observing the death of our pets does help. Pray and chant for a better rebirth for our beloved pets during their final moments do help enormously. When they finally go to heaven, for example, they will know instantly you have helped them cross the death valley and they will help you when you are in troubles yourself in the future. This message is only meant for those who are willing to listen and observe this phenomenon of helping animals crossing the valley of death peacefully and safely. It takes years of mind cultivation and field practices to gain inner knowledge regarding this. Eventually we can help ourselves to die peacefully (be prepared and get ready to die peacefully anytime as it happens) after we ourselves witness time and again the truth behind this process we call dying and death. It is universal and inevitable, anyway. 🙏

Have you ever seen an animal suffering from injury? By car, another animal attack, diesse's, etc. My children watched a kitten get hit by a car, his brains was out of his skull, smashed & burning on hit asphalt as it was fully awake, flipping 1/2 the body around & crying. What if the pet suffers a lot (due to disease, cancer, stopped eating, old age and incurable disease? It's not "killing" it's helping to stop the suffering and humane way. If one has cancer, doctors give pain medicines. Perception depends on one's personal religious background or beliefs. Not every animal will get better and not everyone believes in karma either. It's wrong to purposely have your pets to let them suffer when there is no hope anymore.

Ajahn Brahm says that it is a good idea to ask your pet if it is time, but it's interesting that most dog and cat owners have fed their pets meat which has been deliberately killed in order to feed their pets. No one seems to consider this breaking of Sila which is done almost every day of the pets life. Also I believe if the euthanasia is done out of compassion for the pets' suffering then surely the Kammic effect on you cannot be anywhere near Aṅgulimāla's and he turned out fine after redeeming himself.
