Is it a fairlight? If it is when it came out they cost the same as a house 😂 In fairness the other synth the emulator II was seen as the poor man’s Fairlight because it only cost as much as a car! But it was accessible to bands such as New Order (Emu I & II) who used it extensively as did depeche mode They fetch enormous sums on the secondhand market now if you ever see an old one cheap snap it up!!

Interestingly, this is the original "album version" when it was first recorded. Then the Boys thought that it was too over the top for the album's mood (would be too much next to It's a Sin") and asked the producer (Julian Mendelshon?) to "siubdue it" for the album. Usually it is a reverse process: The album version is stripped but the single version is more energetic.
