If he’s looking at 6-133 to break even, seems like the 3-90 from the Mets would be the way to go. Then he only need to make 43 over 4 or if he gets 25M per for 4 years in any combo that’s the 7-200 he wanted to begin with. 3-90 seems like a great deal to get him to that 200 over 7 he wants. And he has Soto to hit behind to get his numbers up during that time. Doesn’t get much better.

5 Year deal at current market rate, with option years guaranteed for winning NLCS MVP (means he led the Mets to the WS) and/or winning WS MVP (led the Mets to a title). If Pete leads the team to a World Series win, the Mets can print enough money to pay Pete in his late 30's and he'll be a fan favorite. If the Mets continue to be the Mets (no titles), then there is nothing worse than being stuck in NYC with a big contract and a fan base that boos you everywhere you go. He'd be happier in KC or Seattle at that point, and he'll have his money.
@chrishall664221 сағат бұрын

What? Prince Fielder had 1 good year after signing, a so so year (for him) in year 2, was traded and barely played with injuries for a few years before retiring early. Not a good visual to provide teams

Nothing mysterious here. Dude’s agent wants one of those 10 year $300 million contracts everybody was getting last year. Boras never lets his guys take reasonable deals. He will make Alonso wait until spring training if he doesn’t get the deal he’s looking for.
@Dr_Evil_Genius11 сағат бұрын
Boras can have Pete sit out 2025. I’m sure that will earn MORE money. 😂
@MegaChrissypissy22 сағат бұрын
Why would Pete sign a one year deal with another team when the Mets already offered 3 year for 90 with opt outs after each year. Makes no sense AJ
@Dr_Evil_Genius11 сағат бұрын
The methodology is that Pete can enter the market again next year with presumably more teams vying for his services if he hits for a higher average and stops chasing sliders that end up in the other batter’s box.
@Dan-tt8sn23 сағат бұрын
Is this a joke? Prince fielder is a perfect example of what not to do. Worst contract ever. He signed a 9 yr contract through 2020, his age 36 season. Then his career ended in 2016 with a neck injury at only 31 yrs old and his team still had to pay him through 2020, 5 years after he was retired. If insurance didn’t cover this, then it is a terrible contract to try to emulate.
@dashx110323 сағат бұрын
It should be a joke, but it isn't ... sadly. There was an off-handed comment that Boras had used Fielder's contract "as a comparison." And somehow social media turned it into "Pete is demanding 9 Years and $200+ million." It's just click bait. The Mets are offering 3 years, Pete wants 5 years. All the rest is just BS. It is insane.
@travis669422 сағат бұрын
Terrible contract to begin with, but insurance did pay a majority of the remainder rod his contract. He went on the 60 day IL until the contract expired.

Using Prince fielder is a horrible comparison for boras. Look at how it ended. Yes he got hurt. But that’s what teams fear with long term deals. Not performing and being hurt is the same. No one wants to pay money to. Player who isn’t playing or playing well. Also boras lucked out big time on the fielder contract. Tigers were desperate. I believe it was Victor Martinez who got hurt late in the off-season and tigers had to scramble. It was perfect timing for Boras. Also. Tigers owner spent money to win. It’s all he wanted.
