There's something beautifully tragic about that psych-out when Jay sees 'Pete' and just wants to give him a hug. They both believe that Jay can see them, and then you see the guy standing behind Pete and boom, Jay walks through Pete and hugs the delivery guy, but Jay just looks like he's so happy to be hugging whom he suspects to be his favorite ghost, and then finds out that it isn't him.

"beautifully tragic" is the perfect way to describe that scene, both Jay and we the audience are so happy that he can see the ghosts now but then it turns out he cant :( and the fact that both jay and pete were so excited makes it even more tragic :(

Something I absolutely love about the US series is that Jay is having a relationship with the ghosts, poor Mike doesn’t have that relationship in 🇬🇧 version apart from one scene where he and Julian are flying a drone …seriously it’s a wonderful idea that Jay has this strange connection, be it invisible, with the ghosts ..mostly Pete , who would have been his best friend 😊

It would be a fun concept for Jay to gradually become sensitive to ghost energy, like being around it and engaging with the ghosts all the time slowly builds up a sort of sense for them. It could start with just brief glimpses out the corners of his eyes to hearing whispers when the ghosts shout to feeling them move around him. I’m just saying, it’s and interesting idea with lots of hijinks potential!

I’ve been reading about Lenape mythology and boys, after purifying themselves, would go out into the wilderness to find their guardian spirit which sometimes was the ghost of an ancestor. Since Sass is Lenape, it would be cool if he guided Jay on how to do this ritual so he can see ghosts

This is one reason I prefer the US version over the UK. Sure, I love the UK version and it’s great, but Jay has such a better relationship with the ghosts and really covers for Sam when Mike kinda has an aversion to the ghosts. I so wish Jay could see them!!

I love them both for different reasons (I think the UK version is more profound while the US version is funnier), but I do prefer Jay to Mike. I think the UK writers did a disservice to Mike's character by not having him have more to do with the main premise of the show like Jay. In many episodes, Mike felt like an afterthought while Jay always feels like an active part of the family. That said, I prefer Alison over Sam. Sam is too much of a pushover when it comes to the ghosts demands and has also put the ghosts wants over her own husband's wellbeing. She's also pretty selfish and not that great of a partner to Jay (who I feel really gives more than he gets in that relationship). Examples are the DnD episode and the dream episode.

Yes, their dynamic is adorable, and I don't mean to undermine that. But can we talk about the camera work and editing in this show??? Specifically how well it manages to cut between shots, switching between the ghosts being there and not being there. It's done really well, like it's literally seamless. Like that one shot in season 2 episode 1 where the camera goes behind Sam and Jay, and the ghosts become visible to the audience as the camera moves?! That was so clean I had to watch it three times. And yeah, that's to be expected from a professional show, but I can't help but admire the talent that went into the behind the scenes here.

The kid probably would see ghosts at first anyway, even if they then lose that ability as they grow up. It's been shown that young children do see/hear the ghosts while they're young. There was an episode where they had a friend over who had a kid. The kid pointed at Isaac and said "pirate" (I guess because of his jacket) and the dad thought the kid was just imagining things, while Sam noticed but didn't say anything. Later, Hetty saw Thor singing the kid to sleep, and a memory surfaced and she realised the "imaginary friend" she'd had as a little kid had been Thor.

The show establishes that children if they have an active imagination can see ghosts. This is usually waived off by adults as an "imaginary friend" and they eventually lose the ability to see or interact as they mature. Though with Sam reenforcing her child's iamgination by acknowledging the ghosts exist the their child can probably see and interact with the ghosts for longer.

I absolouetly love the Ghost show (US) last year i saw my mom watching TV and she was watching ghosts so i also decided to start watching it and i will never regret it! It is my favourite show! At first i just decided to try it out and see if i like it but now i have watched 1-3 epioside 4 times! I hope the full seaoson 4 willl come out soon! This is so nice how Jay is having a good friendship with somebody he cant see! It can sometimes make the show much funnier when he doesnt realise who he is talking to.
