Pete has said before he was looking to slide but Fosse was blocking the plate. You can actually see where it appears he was planning to slide head first maybe but didn't. He always played hard no matter the situation. No intention to hurt Fosse I don't think at all

I thought what Rose did was terrible when it happened . But , in retrospect, Fosse was blocking the plate so….what’s a guy to do ? Apparently Fosse was “ playing to win “ too.

pete rose ruined ray fosse's career over a game that meant NOTHING. it proves that he can't control himself, therefore he bet on baseball which is against the rules therefore he's not in the hall of fame. if playing that way is his mantra then he should accept that he won't be in the hall of fame because that is their mantra.

@@michaelhuffman6429 but he was never the same. how many times was he on the all star team after that? he was constantly hurt and for what, a game that meant nothing.
